Damn, it’s time to go back to the drawing board fuck sake that took longer than expected to make the characters so I’m gonna have another try

I’ll probably screenshot something and open it on a drawing app, edit it and trace it

Try and use rounded segments and other shapes for hair rather than sharp lines and polyfills.
An outline could help but with any hair there are layers to it, start with the closest to the cranium then branch out to the furthest layer, use reference material and once again try and just stick with the other shapes available, namely ellipses, rounded segments, circles perhaps and triangles in some cases.
Focus on the hair’s main shape and then consider potentially adding some finer points potentially pushing for singular hair strands throughout.

If you feel through your hair and if you’ve had your hair cut before you have layers as to how your hair sits on top of each other and of course how sits in your head itself.
Hair grows from various points in thicker or longer amounts and that’s why hair works differently and looks differently, as it grow out it will create ‘layers’ and each layer of hair will sit atop each other creating a specific hair style.

so you’re at stage 1 aka coming up with an idea
if you’re actually trying to make an OC, which it sounds like, then you need to actually have an idea first
don’t just jump into SN and start adding nodes everywhere and hope it turns into something
step 1) get ideas and inspiration
step 2) draw, side and front and back, edit as needed
step 3) import drawing into SN and use it as a background image as you add nodes on top of it

Edit:
Yes I have tried
And I struggle with it all-
Skill issue
Lol, jk. Just keep practicing, if it’s design-wise I would suggest using other existing characters as reference and pick pieces of the design that you like and try making a new character. It doesn’t have to be too complex or unique for it to be good, it can easily be something simple and recognizable, but if you keep trying, you’ll eventually be able to add on to it and evolve said characters into your own. Experimenting is the main thing when it comes to creating characters, imo at least, so if one thing doesn’t work, try using different methods to get what you want.
If it’s like personality and characteristics of a character, uhhhhh

Yeah, tracing can be useful to learn, although I would also suggest to try making stuff with reference instead of just slapping something on a figure and calling it a day, good luck tho
