When you kick irl you don’t just extend your leg upwards without moving any other body parts right?
If you do, you poor thing; if you don’t then animate how you would normally kick irl.-

try possibly a round house.. how i do it is i start the kick, when the foot reaches chin height i flip X to turn him, lower foot to be torso height and flip X again and put down the leg
