As when I first joined, I loved this place. Now, I am getting headaches from the influx of users, fights constantly being picked with said users due to their sheer stupidity and moronic actions (not to mention the homophobia that sometimes appears that fleshes out these courses of hostility even more), and the constant barrage of low effort, boring posts. And it isn’t helped by users (I’m guilty of this too) posting troll replies to them which makes the idiots riled up, and since there was a reaction and the troll replies garner a large amount of likes, they continue to do the troll replies to the bad , until basically all I’m seeing on every post of theirs (which are frequent) is a temper tantrum due to users commenting their troll replies. And it’s starting to leak to other posts too whenever they comment
This post is probably hard to understand since I typed it oddly and it’s a little inconsistent, but I don’t care much. This was just a small rant. I’m not leaving as I plan on staying here until the site shuts down, and I’m not taking a break either, but the recent situation still ticks me off.

The idiots do dumb things and then we rile them up which makes them do dumber things. Hopefully after I take my long break things will be back to normal

90% of this could’ve just been avoided if instigation from both sides wasn’t a thing. And then once new said user is banned or whatever after a crazed witch-hunt from the almighty gatekeepers of the community, they try to fit in and either
A. Try to develop mannerisms similar to the people who harassed them ( I.e. insulting newer users/being edgy because it’s the “cool” thing to do and was done to them, or kissing up to users who fought with them to seek validation and approval) or
B. Continue to be ridiculed and eventually blacklisted from the site because they are just too young/immature or prone to anger and argument and therefore get picked on really easily and develop a toxic mentality because of that.
Honestly I would just… leave new users alone and let them do their thing. Of course if they go outright to be negative or annoying (hate speech and such) then something should be done, but not by the community, by moderators.
Moderation system shouldn’t be a baptizing of hate by the community and back and forth arguments/threads until it becomes severe enough that posts are flagged and Ralph has to interfere and ban a party involved. It should really be “hey @moderator this guy is being a dick for no reason, can you tell him to stop”
This is how the internet is. Not much you can do. But be sure to try and do the opposite of what you hate and maybe people will follow. If they don’t no biggy you can’t control everything 🤷
