The detailed figures they make perfectly fit the tone of the series they are designed to be in. EB’s figures especially match the tone of his series, as it’s supposed to be a dark, gritty war-drama, and more human figures allow you to take them soo much more seriously.

The reason the Transformers look like cluttered messes, is because they are giant, and filled with pointless shiz that makes them look ugly.
EB’s figures are comparedly tighter packed, they are made to provoke REALISM and therfore he has to limit himself.
Look up any military unit and you’ll see they’re covered in pads and packs.
