King of the estuaries, and granddaddy to all the Alligators of the USA, is our next contender.

    Deinosuchus.

Deinosuchus, meaning “terrible crocodile”, was more in the lines of a Bus sized Alligator than a Giant Crocodile, with a robust build and a thicker, almost rounded jaw like a gator than the conical, almost troangular shape associated with crocodiles. Living on both sides of the Western Interior Seaway in brackish estuaries and occasionally venturing out to sea to feast on sea turtles, fish, and other aquatic prey, it is known that it would occassionally hunt hadrosaurs and other dinosaur species that came to the water’s edge, performing a deathroll when caught.

But here, it is content just lounging on the shoreline.

Sprinting in next is a giant in their own right, and a terror among both avian and mammal.

    Phorusrhacos.

Phorusrhacos was an extinct genus of terror bird known to inhabit woodlands and grasslands in Milocene Patagonia. Over 8ft tall and nearly 300lbs, this bird was one of the largest that ever lived and a top dog where it reigned, using its 2ft long hooked beak and sharp talons to chase down and take down prey.

And as this Guest User is sure to find out, it was an apex runner.
