Black Holes are generally rare and Supernovas only occur in red giants and other supermassive stars, none of which are close enough to ust to obliterate our planet

quasars are even rarer than black holes, the nearest active one we know is 1.7 billion light-years away from earth
also from what I can understand, quasars ARE black holes, they are the accretion disk orbiting one, releasing enormous amounts of energy.
^ should point out that I meant the nearest active quasar and not the nearest black hole, the nearest black hole is about 3000 ly away from earth
