• Hi everyone, I have delayed the time of continuation of Birds of Ukraine pack to July 17 2020 due to being busy on something else, and instead of the Eurasian nuthatch being the next stickfigure to be made for the pack, it will be the western jackdaw; which is one of the birds featured in the Ivano-Frankivsk oblast flag and is known in both Ukrainian and Russian as галка (Galka or as in Ukrainian, halka, mainly because г in Ukrainian is actually pronounced like soft-sounding h [not as in х though, since it’s like a hard-sounding h, sounding like kh].) The reference for making the western jackdaw stickfigure is below here (Though leucism [In the bird’s plumage on the picture] is what I’m gonna ignore to make this stickfigure). Thanks for your patience guys.

Note: Photo posted here is not photographed by me and is photographed by Alena Fomina. This photograph has been also uploaded to uabirds.org by Alena Fomina.

  • Hello everyone! Here, we present our new stickfigure I made, the “Future Bird” from The Cornell Lab Bird Academy game called “Flap to the Future”. If you want to learn about this game “Flap to the Future”, you can go to this link: https://academy.allaboutbirds.org/features/flaptothefuture/about.html. If you want to play this game, you can go to this link: https://academy.allaboutbirds.org/features/flaptothefuture/. By the way, we don’t know exactly what birds will really look like in the future, but we do know that evolution builds on the features that each generation inherits from its genetic relatives, so flapping flight (powered flight) may continue to benefit birds, or maybe not.

NOTE: I don’t own the game “Flap to the Future”, the design for the “Future Bird” on “Flap to the Future”, nor the background designs for the certain bird levels on “Flap to the Future” except for the stickfigure I made. All rights, content, and works in “Flap to the Future” game goes to Cornell Lab of Ornithology! The screenshot of the background from the game in those Stick Nodes images is not used commercially and is only used to visualize the level of the “Future Bird” in “Flap to the Future”.

  • Hello everyone, today’s is the independence day of our (Ukraine’s) Slavic brothers – Belarus! So happy independence day Belarus! 🇺🇦🇧🇾

Even though the subject of birds don’t relate to national days of countries, I would submit the white stork nest stickfigure to the Stick Nodes website because it relates to the national bird of Belarus, that is… The white stork. The white stork stickfigure has been submitted to the website since August 27 2019, 3 days after Ukrainian independence day, but this time at Belarusian independence day, I’ll submitting the white stork nest stickfigure pack. So, be patient everyone for the stickfigure to come out! 🙂

Note: I do not own the gif of the 2020 Belarusian independence day doodle posted here. This doodle goes to

  • Hello everyone,

Sorry for the inconvenience. I have not made new bird stickfigures for the birds of Ukraine pack 6 days ago. It will be continued after July 5 2020, which is two days after Belarusian independence day and the next bird species to be made as a stickfigure for my birds of Ukraine pack will be the Eurasian nuthatch, both male and female. For Belarusian independence day, I will be submitting the stickfigure of a stork nest and the nest pole. This relates to the national bird of Belarus, the white stork. I know the white stork has been already submitted to the website for Ukrainian independence day, but I will be submitting the stickfigure of a white stork nest and the nest pole which I made in May 2020. Now my many bird stickfigures made in 2019 has been submitted to the website. You can check it out. Thanks for your appreciation everyone.

  • Day 2 of making bird stickfigures for my birds of Ukraine pack! The Eurasian collared dove! This bird is known in Ukrainian as горлиця садова and in Russian as горлица кольчатая.

This is one of the birds I have submitted for someone to make a stickfigure of it, but since nobody did it, I decided to make it for my birds of Ukraine pack because it’s one of my favorite birds that are found in Ukraine, Pakistan, and UAE.

This is one of the very common birds in Ukraine and in where I live, UAE. It’s originally from Asia, but its range has spread to Europe. I have seen Eurasian collared doves like thousands of times in my life, and their hoo-HOO-hoo calls are very pleasant to hear from these birds, whether they produce this call to communicate or call its mate, and it’s the males of this species who do it most often. I also hear their raucous calls in flight, mostly they make this call in response of an another individual collared dove’s call, especially when I mimic their calls. I really have seen these birds for a long time.

2 below pictures – Pictures I used as reference for the Eurasian collared dove stickfigure.

  • Here’s our day 1 of making bird species for the birds of Ukraine pack! The great tit, known in Ukrainian as велика синиця and in Russian as большая синица. I’ll be telling some information about this bird.

The great tit (Parus major) is a familiar bird species in the titmice family (Paridae) and is found in Eurasia and Northwestern Africa. It is very distinctive given by it’s iridescent black head, black neck, white cheek, white ear coverts, white nape, black throat, iridescent wings, blue iridescent tail, greyish legs, and most of the body plumage being olive color and yellow. This bird is mainly about 15 cm in length. Most great tits stay year-round in Eurasia and doesn’t migrate except in harsh winters. In Ukraine, this bird is very widespread around the country and they are common birds in gardens, backyards, and urban areas. They have adapted well to human changes in their environment. Not only does a great tit have a quite distinctive song, but also they have many songs in its repertoire and their songs seem complex. They use these songs for communication mostly, and like most of the passerine bird species in Northern Hemisphere, the males of the species are the ones who sing the most. This kind of bird is mostly insectivorous in summer, but they’ll consume a variety of food items in winter, especially the brains of some birds and hibernating bats. It is a cavity nester like all species of tits, which means they nest in tree cavities although sometimes they nest in nest boxes. The female great tit lays 12 eggs on the nest and incubates them alone, although both parents take care of the young. In some cases, the nests are raided by woodpeckers, squirrels, and weasels and may be infested with fleas, and adult great tits may be hunted by their main natural predators, sparrowhawks.

  • Hi guys,

As you may know, I haven\’t been active in Stick Nodes for a long time due to motivation, not using Stick Nodes too often, and school (In school and now online education). As how it is, the creation of huge bird pack is canceled. However, I\’ll be making a pack basing on birds of Ukraine. I\’ll not tell what will be in this pack, but time will show you. Before making the birds of Ukraine pack, I would need to submit most of my made in 2019 bird stickfigures to the Stick Nodes website. I hope you guys are all staying fine during the pandemic, thanks for reading! Love from Pakistan, Ukraine, and Russia!

    Best regards,
    Khadeeja Atturehamn

  • Sorry for late post, but here’s a red-winged blackbird breeding male I made yesterday for my huge bird pack. The red-winged blackbird breeding male might be a pack with the actual node and the back wing due to amount of nodes. Next bird I will make for my huge bird pack is the ivory gull.
