No stop, he said scyths are overrated

Hi, I’ve been Summoned by what’s pretty much my cult so I’m gonna have to teach you a thing or two about scythes.
1) weaponised scythes exist. War Scythes are just like a scythe but the blade points upwards like a really long spear, giving it a decent cut and a clumsy stab, better than a normal scythe which was horrendous at both. However, it was only weilded by poor farmers and peasants who could not afford an actual weapon like a sword or spear.
2) it’s clumsy. The problem with a scythe is that it’s really heavy, it’s a weird shape and the blade faces the one direction you don’t want it to. The shaft would usually have two handles on it which, if held like a weapon, could help prevent to immense weight of the blade from swinging the blade around and smacking into your jaw. However, the blade itself is also a problem as it is too long, heavy and in a shape designed to cut grasses, not flesh and bone which are a lot tougher.
3) how to make a scythe work. You have three options: use a different weapon, use a similar weapon or create a weapon based off of a scythe. If you choose a different weapon, try a glaive, halberd or any other polearm, they all work similar. If you want a weapon that’s similar to a scythe, try either a Kama or Sickle, though be very careful with how you design the sickle.
Finnaly, designing a working scythe weapon. To do this, you need the same long pole with a short, fat, curved blade on the side of the head. Make sure it’s fairly long but does not protrude too far as to avoid weight problems.

i know that anything is better than a War Scythe, though if you were to make a proffesional grade War Scythe then maybe…
oh wait, Glaives and Naginatas do that job 900X better.

also, if there was a fight between a guy with a scythe and a guy with just a katar, i’d vote for the katar dude

but can we not forget the Majesty of the Pata

same. but honestly, if i were to say one weapon that deserves a spotlight, it’d be the Bhuj

aw c’mon, it’s the perfect blend of a sword and an axe. you get the heft and cutting power of the Axe and the parrying and swiftness of a Sword.

not at all, have you seen how thick the shaft is, plus it’s made of metal, not wood like a polearm.
