In case you’re wondering about this, mobile was bugged.
But Ralph fixed it about a half an hour ago, so you should be good to use it now on mobile if that was your problem. 👍

Preview channel for the rewrite of sticknodes.skin in case anyone wants to check out how the UI is so far: https://sticknodes-skin–testing-d7phoqlm.web.app
Notes:
1. I’ve been focusing primarily on the UI, so basically none of the backend stuff works yet.
2. It’s not using the hydration rendering model yet, so performance probably won’t be as good when it’s released to production.
3. This preview channel link will apparently expire on July 4th (maybe it renews if I push to the preview channel but idk for sure), so if it expires, I’ll have to post a new link. -
Quick update on how sticknodes.skin is going.
I scrapped the old codebase to rewrite it in a better JS Framework called NuxtJS.
I also decided to limit the scope of the site for the v1 release. ik before I mentioned that it’s gonna be a whole ecosystem, but I think if I want to release faster I should start smaller. So initially there won’t be any complex social features like comments, bios, follows, etc. They may be added in the future, but I’m not worrying about them as of right now.
I’m taking heavy inspiration from modrinth.com for the UI, and I think so far it’s looking kinda nice.

My absolute first exposure to coding was on codecademy.com. I\’m not sure how it is nowadays, but back then it was a good way for me to get my feet wet.
Another significant phase of my learning was on SoloLearn app. It was super convenient for me, so it helped expose me to a lot of new concepts.
But by far I started learning the most after I started coding Discord bots and showing them to my friends. I think the fact that I had something that I could easily show progress for and get positive feedback on really kept me motivated.
I started immersing myself most when I was researching things that I could either apply to my Discord bots or that would help me make something else that I can show to my friends.
I think the point I\’m getting at is that in my opinion, courses, videos, books, etc are only a quarter of the equation. What\’s most important is that you think of some projects that excite you to work on. If you can find that, then you\’ll be hooked. I can almost guarantee it.
But yeah, I think Python is a great choice for a first language. I started with JavaScript, but in hindsight, Python probably is a better first language.
Just remember that A LOT of what you learn in Python is universal to ALL programming languages, so learning another language will be easier than learning your first if you ever want to branch out in the future.
TL;DR
codeacademy and/or sololearn are good places to get your feet wet. Start working on your own project ASAP (immediately after learning basic syntax). Keep the scope of your first project small and don\’t give up if you don\’t know how to finish it!Good luck o7
