@ralph yo, c’mere and read this a bit.

    Your tweening SUCKS.

What I mean is that it only has one type of tweening, and that’s also terrible.

In other advanced animation programs like Flash, they have multiple types of tweening for different purposes, what SN has is what I like to call ” smooth tweening “, it just fills in the frames until the animation looks nearly completely smooth, and it sucks.

In Flash, they do have that kind of crappy tweening but a bit better, however they do have an option for ACTUAL tweening, it’s not just a mindless program filling every in-between it can find to make it smooth without any ” gaps ” / choppiness, it actually just in-between each frame instead of filling everything to make it look smooth, this form of tweening exist in sticknodes ( the 50% tween button ), it is manual which is better but I don’t think you can adjust the amount of tweening to a custom number like 15% or 60%, if there is, just let me know and it makes tweening in SN seem less oober clan.

Then, there is the Elastic Tweening, the name is almost self-explanatory, it makes your animation look elastic and bouncy, since tweening here cannot be done in a frame that’s not between other frames, it must have some smart AI that calculates the bounciness and elasticity for the next frame, this would be a pain in the ass to script but it would be worth it for people who ‘toon.

Then, there is gradient tweening, a tweening, for colors that goes to another color, you want a nice changing gradient from black to white ? Activate gradient tweening, easy.

Then there’s collective tweening, this one is either the smooth tweening that sucks and the actual tweening that just does in-between instead of filling, alrighty, so for this, you animate separate nodes, then it tweens each node individually, aftern animating that, it animates the entire stickfigure with all of the individual node tweened individually ( in a layer ), then bam, animation lookin’ smooth like a new Nutella jam, this is present in flipaclip, and it saves alot of time.

Okay, so all of this is a bit difficult to comprehend, so lemme get some visual aids tommorow or some time after because 9 pm moment.

    • If you hate sticknodes tween so much then go do pivot or flash or something

    • To me the tweening looks fine

    • I’m sort of agreed to this.

    • The entire app was made by 1 person, so considering that, the app is actually good

    • i hate to reply to this so simply, but, like, you address the main point at the beginning

“In other advanced animation programs like Flash”

SN is not an advanced program like Flash in these regards (similarly, sound manipulation, masking, etc) due to the nature of the “simplicity” of the app

as it stands, the tweening as it is serves its purpose for the overwhelming majority of the userbase

now as I say in regards to all these more complex additions, including also layers – this is stuff to talk about for SN PC if/when it happens

but I hear you, there’s just no feasible way to shove this into a layer-less, keyframe/frame(distinction)-less app like SN without significantly overcomplicating everything

UI wise, having dropdown box near tween stickfigure could work.

It could just list some simple presets for tweening like the ones suggested above.

Technically wise, and how stick nodes is coded and handled… Well… Lmfao.

still it ends up just being tweening between keyframe1 and keyframe2 which isn’t as sophisticated as Flash with its keyframe/frame distinction aka you can have [keyframe1 [frame][frame][frame] keyframe2] thus easily elongating a tween

plus layers – allowing you to apply all these special tween cases to just the ball on the screen not also the tree moving in the background or something (bc of being on different layers)

          basically, we need layers first
          lol

Yeah the mechanical aspect is definitelly the crappy part. However just trying to find a way to make it UI bearable on mobile if it could be put there, even without layers.

Imagine what if you could put tween duration next to the tween type? It locks the stick on next frames till the specified end frame. Every locked frame the stick is on it does that alternative custom transition.

    • Everyone be roasting this fella while us admins just nod and fully agree. It does suck. Idk how tho but I can actually make real good tweening stuff despite all of that.

But yeah, it’s bad. Or limited in another sense. For bigger stuff I usually consider stuff in SN as a base, foundation or such. Then I just make some small adjustments or improvements in an editor.

    • First of all, you can change the number of tweened frames

Second of all, color tweening is literally available with the push of a checkbox

Ok, you know where the bar is when you select what type of tweeting you want?
          Example:
          10%~90%
Press that bar and you can edit it
          10%~
          ~90%
