In the bowser fights in Super Mario 64 mario throws bowser into bombs and say’s ‘So long a bowser’. The additional ‘a’ to supposedly make him sound italian but it sounds like ‘so long gay bowser’ so it was a joke / meme for a long time but recently when mario all stars 3D (a mario collection featuring 3 3D mario games, Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 64) Nintendo decided to change it to ‘Bye Bye’.
