Edit: And 2.1.0 is now the shortest-ever update to Stick Nodes… Thanks to the quick bug-finding by Heckray, some critical bugs were fixed with the 2.1.1. update. A bug involving disabling the save reminder and a bug when using fullscreen. However, there may be a bug that involves difficulty selecting nodes when using the magnifier. If you run into this, please report it down in the comments as it appears tricky to make occur.
It’s that time of the month! New update.
This one has a few new features that I think everyone will enjoy. See the changelog below.
Version 2.1.0 – 2.1.1 (For Android)
- New magnifier (look under “Project Tools”). This will make it easier to grab nodes!
- You can now play your animations in fullscreen (Pro only).
- Easier to send files to someone, look under “App Tools” for the “Send files” button!
- Save reminder, the app reminds you to save every 5 minutes. You can change this in “App settings”.
- Knob buttons for angles are easier to use, and show rotation in real-time.
- Many other small additions and fixes.
This update is currently only out for Android users (yes, again, come at me). The iOS update is waiting on some fixes I need to implement, but will be out soon.
The new magnifier (found under “Project Tools”) is a very exciting new feature. The biggest complaint about Stick Nodes is how difficult it is to grab nodes, which is understandable.
What the magnifier does, is allow you to zoom in real close in a small window to select nodes, but stay at a comfortable zoom on the main stage to be able to properly move and animate your characters. You can see an example of this in the GIF above.
Another useful feature is the “Send files” button located under “App Tools” – which does what you would expect. This should make it simpler and easier to send projects/stickfigures/sounds to other users, maybe for collabs or joints.
Fullscreen playing will play your animation while filling the whole screen. In a pinch, this can be used if you want to screen-record if you experience delays/problems when exporting normally.
The save reminder is about as close to auto-saving as the app may get (saving takes time, as I’m sure many of you are aware). Since I don’t want to have the app keep interrupting you to save for 1-2 minutes, I figure this is a good solution. A prompt will remind you ever X minutes (you can set how long) that you haven’t saved.
The knob buttons should be easier to use, and rotating stickfigures/limbs shows in real-time.
And besides some other small changes, that’s about it.
Cool right?
Please say right.

Left
…right?
And btw you shouldn’t publish the Android version until you’re done with the iOS one.
Apple users buy Stick Nodes, Android users don’t.
We love you and appreciate you, Ralph, unlike dem pirates?
Well Android users buy the app too so…
Also now over the next 2 days I see all the bugs/crashes this causes, and fix them before ever releasing the iOS update.
My logic is undeniable.
Oh ok…
BY THE WAY… Do the rotation knobs snap to 0°/90°/180°/270° (like when holding shift while rotating in desktop apps)?
I haven’t had a chance to try 2.1.0 yet (obvious reasons), so what exactly does “easier to use” mean? That you can see the result in real time?
in other words, filthy Android users have to deal with bugs while us glorious IOS master race can have a pure and pristine version
*cries* You guys are mean!
I don’t even experience any bugs except for that one time I lost a file.
Well…….
Thank you.
I go about my day thinking SN is riddled with bugs because that’s all I ever hear.
To be honest it probably is but still.
I’d like to not know about it.
Ralph, idk why but I cant grab nodes in the magnifire (cant spell)
Is this meant to happen or what?
You’re supposed to be able to select them. But not drag them. It should behave basically like how the main stage area acts and has always acted (besides the non-dragging).
Are you not able to touch a node at all with the magnifier?
The knobs now simply increment rotation.
So if you rotate all the way around, the stickfigure only moves about 1/4 of a circle. It’s a lot more solid-feeling and not jumpy.
We do buy it will i did
PL Team Slave OwnerFULLSCREEN BEAUTY! 1080p 60FPS HERE I COME!
nah
PL Team Slave OwnerO_O Dafuq you say?
I think he said- I MAY BE WRONG- but I think he just explained the meaning of life in a single word:
yee
PL Team Slave OwnerOk.
Oh look an update *updates sn* (two hours later) another update? What’s this for? 2.1.1 WAH?!?!? 2 UPDATES IN ONE DAY?!?!?! (BTW what’s the 2.1.1 update about?)
See the edited post, lol.
My question is answered ._.
hey Ralph, new features are undeniable cool i know but there is one thing above everything except opacity which is for uploading animations to:
1) not take 60 million years for it to finish
2) not damn crash halfway through when there’s only 200 frames or higher!
if these weren’t around, i’d probably be starting work on Episode 4 of you know what by now
It ain’t SN you just have a shty device :F
You have an iPad mini 1st gen right? I ordered a used one to get here tomorrow. I need to look into iPad mini crashes, so that’s partially why iOS is delayed.
yeah, the mini one is a nightmare at times due to being weaker than a fruit cordial. i really want to know whatever the hell Explosive Bullets using (unless i have to throw £2000 at it)
I use a iPhone 5s. It can reliably do 1000 frames at 60fps
Anything more and you start getting visual glitches
I use a 5S too because I like glitches( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Ya’ll need to stop using SN on tiny little devices and get a tablet.
Do it.
So does it crash right away? I see at least 2 others (I forget who off the top of my head) also with Mini’s, say their exports crash.
I swear if I get this Mini tomorrow and test SN and it doesn’t crash I’m going to throw shoes at all of your heads.
I got a FREAKING “Samsung Galaxy Tab A”……….yeah………..it’s only like a year old……..
My tablet is very smol…….;-;
it runs perfectly up to about 200, gets a little slow at 300, getting annoying at 400, point of no return at 500.
for uploads however, i always aim for around 150 frames as it is the most i can do without the app crashing and i have to upload it AGAIN
I’m using it now.
I haven’t notice lag, yet. But it does randomly crash when exporting… But then other times for the same export it works.
Man I hate programming why didn’t I just become a cashier.
why, is programming expensive? i always thought it was cheap, free even!
No it’s annoying, when crap don’t make no sense ever.
EVER.
Look at me! I use an Ipad 2!! Thats very old… Just think about crashes…
Do you actually experience crashes with that?
I’ll give that to Apple, since all of their devices are very similar, they all “behave” similarly. Whereas there are roughly 100 bajillion Android devices that all have different quirks.
So usually Apple devices are much more stable, at least when it comes to Stick Nodes.
I use an iPad 2 iOS 8. (my device has problems, k. cant update to the latest right now) and tbh and freezing is pretty common lol
i need that darn autosave
It freezes? Freezes are odd…I can see a crash, but, I don’t know why it would just freeze.
PL Team Slave OwnerI always noticed that older IOS devices have massive issues with the new versions of IOS. Might be that.
This makes sense I suppose. Old hardware trying to support newer internal technology (software). The video-creating side of iOS code is very complex, uses a lot of resources, primarily memory which old devices don’t have.
My method I’m *attempting* in 2.1.1 for iOS is to export video (behind the scenes, the user won’t know this) in multiple small files, then at 100% merge them all together.
Lol if it works.
Well, you did a very good work, now i don’t experience crashes when saving a project, but it crashes the 99% of times i try to export a “long” or “heavy” project to Mp4 with/without sounds
That’s good. I’m working on potential fix for MP4 crashes for 2.1.1, we’ll see, will know more today.
GLORIOUS SANCTITY AT LAST,
I has question
Why.
When is transparency effect or however it’s gonna be like, going into Stick-nodes?
It might take a long time to optimize cause it will be a high CPU killing process. He wants you to use the app to let you animate not kill your phone.
Ok wtf i set my remind thing to zero and now i can’t use the app wtf
Sorry, was a bug in 2.1.0. But 2.1.1. came out a few hours after to fix it hopefully you’ve seen it already.
