Edit January 11 – This update is now live on the App Store as well!
Something something when one door closes another opens.
Look I wanted to make a pun regarding the ongoing Doors Collab that provoked this update just, go with it.
Changelog (3.0.5)
- MP4s can now export to a max resolution of 1920 x 1080 if your device can handle it (Pro only).
- Blur and glow can go up to 2.0, up from 1.0 (Pro only).
- Polygon shapes can now go as low as supporting 4 sides, aka easy squares.
- Segment length is now a visible and editable field under “Segment Tools”.
- Bug Fix: Anti-aliasing with polygon gradients would give bad color outline.
- Bug Fix: Leaving MC mode would bring you back to frame 1 on the main timeline.
- Bug Fix: If selecting nodes for a polyfill, the app will no longer “prefer” and assume you’re re-selecting the currently-selected node.
- Bug Fix: Undo/redo an add/paste segment would sometimes mess up draw order.
- Bug Fix: Smart-Stretch would break when encountering a node of 0-length.
- Bug Fix: Undo a “Delete one segment” event would sometimes mess up lengths.
- Bug Fix: Magnifier in Creation Mode would not show nodes.
- Bug Fix: Large rounded segments would sometimes have gaps near the top/bottom.
- Bug Fix: Fixed Spanish translation for some texts.
Okay so neat, right? Now you can enter the Doors Collab. (Please follow the rules and stop giving Stick Nodes users a bad name dammit.)
Exporting at 1920 x 1080 is gonna be slow and painful depending on project size and device CPU power. But hey, 1080 Youtube videos so there’s that!

In other news, I’m currently dedicating a lot of time to upgrading some of the website’s backend and features which is why SN (the app) updates are a bit quiet. I wanted to get this quick one out because of the Doors Collab complaints as well as all the bug fixes.
Hopefully the next update will include functionality for submitting movieclips to the website, no estimated date yet though.
everyone:
finally we can export SN at some high quality
reality:

ok but ima go do 4k cause im ahead of yall. Watch-
no 8k?
disappointed
watch me export 10240×7680
Ngl I can do it but I’d basically have to export single shot 16 times which is an oeuf. For my device and for my lazy ass.
$5 amazon gift card do it
Sold. I don’t even use amazon but-
my device is crying right now
bEfore 2021?
buT daaaaadddd, i need to open the dooooor
in reality it’s whenever the 1 apple employee decides to wake from his slumber and approve the update
And you always gotta submit on Friday when they leave the update hanging entire weekend lmfao
Nice
Now make it so you can layer the glow filter so multi part stickfigures can glow
Or just make glow smart so when all the things that are joined together have glow, they glow together
that second thing I plan on doing, just like scale
but as for having the whole figure glow “properly” (including joined figures) – best you can do is make it a movieclip, and the MC will glow
otherwise I just can’t make it so, for example, the arm doesn’t glow separately overlapping into the body
PL Team Slave Owner1080p resolution is now a thing?
My next big animation is gonna just start off at 720p and all of the sudden it’s just gonna get better out of nowhere. This just makes me happy. 1080p is now PERMANENT on my content. And yes, I had 1080p before on SN by screen recording the full screen preview of my animations at 1440p then cropping down to 1080p, but this will work a lot better with the filters rather than having a choppy MS presentation by screen recording a filter loaded animation. 2 words left. Thank you.
i can’t believe screen recordings at that resolution work so well…how can you possibly record your screen – of your type of node/filter abuse – it must be like single-digits FPS so-
what magic do you use?
it’s single-digit FPS playback as is, but add on the CPU intense screen recording that’s gotta make it worse?
PL Team Slave OwnerWell. 1440p screen recording at 60fps is already really CPU intensive.
On top of the fact that my tablet is native 1440p = Not really that extreme.
Running stick nodes = Not that hard for my tablet at all.
The high maxed out node figures in 20fps tweened to 60fps animation. As well as 400mb animation.
To my suprise, and despite this being really really really hard on the CPU, my tablet manages to tank it. Now add the filters on there… Now we have a problem.
Without the filters and before filters where even a thing, I started making that FPS Apocalypse 4, so filters where out of the question. Now at one point you just happened to have release the stickfigure filters. I immediatly put it to use in making a depth of field effect with the blur, this was a frame that maxxed out the figure limit, I animated through it, no problem. Recording this scene decked out with the filters was really tough though. FPS would drop as low as 4fps when I pressed the preview button with the screen recorder running. This actually drove me to the point of dropping the animation FPS to one. And through many exports and some math, I rose the 1fps tweened clip running at 4fps in speed. This took a bit of math, but it worked and I brought it up to 60fps, my animations speed. Here it was at the proper speed. I exported in MP4 at a low resolution with sound then pasted the audio onto the new 1080p clip. This of course was way too much work, so I ditched uploading 1080p with SN and stuck to the MP4 export of 720p so I could have an efficiently done and smooth animation. This is why I wanted 1080p export for so long now. Especially with all the small details and particles I put in my animations. But that does raise good question. How did my tablet run all of that even before the filters? Like now I’m currently overclocking my CPU for added performance in certain things, but not way back then. My tablets insane and all, but that’s even more crazy than how good my tablet it.
It got worse over time because stick Nodes goes through more cpu abuse nowadays
PL Team Slave OwnerI mean. Nothing really changed. It’s just that filters for SN is already my devices limit. Top that on screen recording and my tablet can hardly run it. Other than that, it runs exactly the same as before.
huh, that’s impressive
so you took the 1fps video and I assume upped it 60x (or something like that) to get it to 60fps, then overlayed the sound on top?
apologies
deep, deep apologies
PL Team Slave OwnerYeah. Pretty much. It was a big brain moment for simple filters.
You could have made 1080p without any problems by exporting everything in 1080p as images then slapping it into an editor as image sequence. Just sayin.
say he’s got 2000 images
a png is maybe 200kb
thats 400mb (The Math&trade) which I guess actually is manageable…on a PC of course
Well yes you just need a spacious sd card then dump everything onto pc like I do.
If I don’t have much memory then I’d just do it in batches.
Don’t get me started on doing it 4 times to get 4k
PL Team Slave OwnerYeah. If 1080p existed and if I could tween a PNG file to 60fps. Excapt that isn’t possible.
Butt you can tween png files and png already had 1080p lmfao
PL Team Slave OwnerHol up. How. It doesn’t just export keyframes?

a question
was the antialiasing fixed to get rid of pixels
around the edge, yeah
on polygons
i had previously fixed circles
awesome
Relf i still cant get the update HELP MEEEE
You on Android or Apple , if you on Android sometimes it glitches , as has happen to me , if you reload the play store , clear cache of the playstore app , and it still doesn’t show up , just wait like at most a day
I’m one step ahead, i’m updated at the latest ver 3.6.9
