An innocent bystander watching a fight between flame and stew at Nicky's hotel.

He was shot by a stray bullet and didn't survive. Not long after, on a foggy day, a creature clad in black wearing a white mask emerged from the darkness into the hotel. It was device, reborn. When flame came back from the dead to kill stew, Device held him off. Flame killed him, again. He somehow came back to life, a human again, with his powers much weaker and a few psychological issues.
