For those of you not obsessed with Ancient Aztec weaponry, the Macuahuitl is pronounced (Mac-oo-a-hwee-tl). the Macuahuitl is by far one of the best and most lethal war clubs to have ever existed, built out of extremely powerful hard wood and lined with sharp glass shards of Obsidian.
If looked at on a molecular level, Obsidian is in fact much sharper than even a Surgery Scalpel. A legend goes round that at one point, a Macuahuitl was used to lob the whole head off of a horse in one hit.
From the sheer sharpness and weight of the weapon and combined with the velocity of the horse, this story is hard to disprove. this is another weapon generally ignored by my most people and deserves more recognition than it gets.

There was actually a story once of a warrior fugitive who was given a chance to live if he defeated the tribe’s top warriors who wielded these, they gave him one of these but instead of obsidian it was feathers, it wasn’t a fair fight, he won anyways, you see, the obsidian shards are attached via a sticky sap or something, so when you hit it on a large sack of meat (e.g. a human or horse) the shards will come off the club and attach to the victim, giving the wounds infections, if you were to block every attack thrown at you, you could possibly win. That’s just an aztec legend, but oddly realistic
After the bloodbath, the emperor didn’t want any more elite soldiers to die, so he offered the dude a job in the army, badass turned down the offer and asked to be sacrificed.
Yee, Viva Mexico cabrones!
