The Roman Scutum
The Roman Scutum was used famously by the Roman Republic and Empire. It was very useful for military formations and protecting the entire body of the soldier. Depicted in this figure is arguably the most popular form of the scutum - oblong and convex, with red paint and an golden eagle on the front. This pack features the side (1), back (2), and front (3).
The Heater Shield
The Heater Shield was a European Medieval shield shape/form used from the 12th century to the 14th century. It was still used from that point onwards, but not on the battlefields; mostly for jousting tournaments. It cannot be directly traced to its' origins, and was used by basically all of Europe. Since it was inexpensive and easy to make/use, it was used by all classes of warriors, from peasants to knights.
Seen in this pack, the shield has a side, front, and back view. The front of the shield is colorable, but sacrifices gradients. The highlight, however, is the designs. Heater Shields were very useful for showing symbols and coats-of-arms due to the relatively large surface area. In this pack you can use the following:
3: X
A simple X pattern.
4: Cross
Not just for religious purposes, the common cross was widely used on shields.
5: Eagle
Under the guise of many different birds, be it a hawk or a falcon, this bird is widely seen on shields.
6: Lion
An iconic lion, used by many countries and royal families to symbolize power and bravery.
All of these designs can be colored. They will also be followed by -HeaterSA.
The Viking Shield
Before we start, I want to apologise for a lack of effort on one thing; the research of the name of this shield. Google said Rond and I just stopped, because the Vikings named a Round Shield Rond because it was round... This shield was used by the Vikings, it was made of various woods and had an iron/steel boss. Most of these shields were custom-made for the user, and were often decorated and unique. There isn't too much information regarding these shields, as they weren't exactly the only round shields to be made.
Compared to most of my figures, this is complex to assemble. Compared to other figures on this website, it is relatively easy. If you are looking to make a fully decorated shield as seen in the thumbnail, here are the steps:
1. Attach the frame using the bottom node.
2. Put the cap on the shield using the top node.
3. Fix the cover onto the cap's bottom node.
4. Connect the pattern/design on the cover's top node.
*Having a pattern/design require a cover which requires a cap. If you don't want a cover/cap, set their opacity to zero.
Here are the sections as seen at the bottom left of the thumbnail and their contained figures:
SCTN 1: Patterns/designs
4Corners, top middle
Sections, bottom left
Runic, bottom right
SCTN 2: Base figures

Bolted Frame, bottom right
SCTN 4: Examples
*FROM LEFT TO RIGHT

Bolted cap, bolted frame, and 4corners
Sturdy cap, sturdy frame, and runic
Test all the combinations out! There are many, with different colors and such. I suggest setting both the cover and the design to 80% opacity to give it a more faded look.
There they are. Procrastination and school stress made this pack take a lot longer than it should of; after this, expect a large weapon pack, one of the largest I've ever done.
Will there be another shield pack? Yes, you can count on it. But it might not be for a while. I have a lot of figures I want to make. You could get special shields in packs of warriors/characters, such as Roman Praetorians and Holy Crusaders. If you want to see a specific shield/weapon be made, tell me! Either in the comments or elsewhere.
Stay tuned for more, have a great day 🙂
