Colt 1860 Army Revolver Pack

Colt 1860 Army Revolver Pack by Wannabe Outlaw, Colt-1860-Army-Revolver-Pack.zip (3263) - The Colt Army Model 1860 is a cap & ball .44-caliber single-action revolver used during the American Civil War made by Colt's Manufacturing Company. The Colt 1860 Army uses the same size frame as the .36 caliber 1851 Navy revolver. The frame is relieved to allow the use of a rebated cylinder that enables the Army to be chambered in .44 caliber. The barrel on the 1860 Army has a forcing cone that is visibly shorter than that of the 1851 Navy, allowing the Army revolver to have a longer cylinder. Another distinguishing feature of the Colt 1860 Army, first introduced on the Colt 1855 Sidehammer Revolver, is the "creeping" loading lever. More than 200,000 were manufactured from 1860 through 1873. Colt's biggest customer was the US Government with no less than 129,730 units being purchased and issued to the troops, but some other buyers of the gun were the Confederate States, Native Americans, The United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, The Empire of Japan, The Empire of Brazil, And The Mexican Empire. Famous users of the gun include Wild Bill Hickok, that while better known for carrying 1851 Navy Colts, he is know to have owned a pair of 1860 Army conversions. John Wesley Hardin, The Texas gunfighter and outlaw was said to have favored powerful percussion revolvers including the 1860 Army during his early years. And like many ex-Confederate guerrillas, the James-Younger gang used 1860 Armies left over from the war during the early years. #Madness #gun #revolver

1862 Whitney Revolvers Pack

1862 Whitney Revolvers Pack by Wannabe Outlaw, 1862-Whitney-Revolvers-Pack.zip (11754) - Eli Whitney, Jr. assumed control of his father's armory in 1841. The Whitney Arms Company manufactured muskets for the Government and would continue to do so during the War Between the States. Whitney's first opportunity to become involved with the manufacture of handguns occurred in 1847, when Sam Colt received a contract for 1,000 revolvers during the War with Mexico. Colt had closed his plant in Paterson, New Jersey in 1843, due to economic conditions and loss of payments for his Paterson revolvers during the Seminole War. Whitney and Colt partnered for the manufacture of the Colt Walker revolver, at the Whitneyville armory. That venture helped Colt get back into the firearms business, and helped prepare Whitney to begin manufacturing his first handguns around 1850. Colt retained a patent on his revolving mechanism, which caused Whitney and other manufacturers to develop other methods of "revolving the cylinder". Once Colt's patent expired in 1857, Whitney began producing revolvers with the same reliable mechanism. John Singleton Mosby’s men (the “Gray Ghost” Confederate partisan rangers) reportedly used captured or imported Whitney revolvers among their mix of sidearms. George Armstrong Custer’s Union cavalry unit was also issued various revolvers including Whitney Navys early in the war. Lewis Powell also carried a Whitney navy revolver during his assault on the Seward home, and used it to whip Frederick Seward so ferociously that the revolver broke apart in his hand. #Madness #gun #revolver
