    @epitaph200 @toxic911 @explosivebullet

i had an idea for a series and I want y’alls’ opinion on it

this stems from a game I had plans to make and I might still make eventually but that’s besides the point

so basically it begins on an alternate universe planet earth, with advanced af humans but they still have not surpassed war at that point so global nuclear war happens and most of the population is dead

(the protagonist is unnamed as of yet but she is female) the protagonist has a robot companion to guide her through this, along with a lot of other technologies augmented into her

if this sounds too much like fallout it gets interesting here

in this multiverse (you’ll understand why I said that soon) time travel is possible, but there is a catch, if you time travel back to before time travel was invented, to prevent paradoxes from happening, instead of being transported back in time in your universe, you are transported to another universe where the time you chose is the present and not the past, so your choices affect that universe and not the one you came from, again, to avoid paradoxes.

with that being said, she time travels back to medieval times, her objective here is to guide the people of this universe to a similar state as before she came here, but that state having been reached by peace and not war.

as you can imagine, I would have a lot of creative freedom here because this is a sci-fi series not anchored to realism.

would like some opinions expressed here.

    • I really like the idea here. It takes a typical time travel scenario and adds a twist to it by requiring the protagonist to solve multiple complicated issues to fix the future instead of stopping/altering a key event. It certainly holds potential for a story based series. The setting by itself has potential for humor as the protagonist tries to get used to the severely underdeveloped technology of the medieval era. However, I have some concerns as well.

      1. The protagonist and robotic companion would require incredibly likable/interesting personalities. Considering how the story will center around the two, work should be specifically focused on making their personalities interesting. If there’s gonna be a ton of time centered around them, they should be fun and interesting to watch as they interact with the plot.

      2. An antagonist would increase the series’s dramatic aspect. While there already is a conflict with the protagonist trying to change time, there isn’t a particular menace that the protagonist is trying to avoid/stop, just a future to prevent. Perhaps an antagonist from the same future as the protagonist wishes to prevent her from changing the past because the antagonist drastically benefits from the post-nuclear world. I’d think that any sort of antagonist from the medieval times would be fairly underpowered, as the protagonist has all sorts of futuristic gadgets and weaponry to fight with. Unless, of course, magic is involved in some way, but this seems to be more of a sci-fi oriented series than it is fantasy in general.

All in all, I like it! Just put some more work in developing it and I’m sure it will turn out good!

but yeah I do plan on an antagonist

what way could they benefit from a few desperate people on a planet overrun with radiation and fallout though?

Perhaps it’s someone who fully committed to robotic augmentation to the point of where they’re pretty much more machine than human, and the antagonist has near total control of what’s left of the earth because of it. That could mean an entire group of augmented baddies at his disposal, which could provide some content for fight scenes with the protagonist as more come to try to stop her. Instead of the antagonist just spewing evil, maybe there can be conflicting viewpoints, as the protagonist wants to change the past so it never happens and the antagonist believes the human race can adapt and maybe goes survival of the fittest or something.

            interesting

i like the survival of the fittest thing

a more machine than human dude would be fun to design

    • I like this idea. Goes deep and isn’t simplistic. It’s what SN needs.
