This teqchnique was invented for those who are not allowed to carry swords, namely farmers, craftsmen and merchants, and even Ninjas and was carried on secretly by them.
Samurai hated opponents with this weapon, because in a real fight, you can’t really see where the ball is for its speed, and the ball can crack your skull. Everyone in Japan knows the existence of this weapon, but only very few practice this.
