Replying to:UnknownCan't you like, delete all the hyper old posts? Would that
nah that’s just space, not CPU stuff
idk man I don’t even know anymore, kinda just started happening past two or three weeks, usually on weekends, but now it’s every day, even at “normal” traffic so idk anymore
I didn’t change anything, I’ve disabled one by one all the “big” plugins that handle the stickfigure pages/this activity area/etc, nothing
and the CPU load bounces up and down from bad to okay at the same traffic volume as it pleases
it’s really a bunch of nonsense, hope to have some kind of epiphany soon
I have to confirm this with the elusive third admin, but I suspect everything is “fine”, it’s just the traffic has grown too much for the current server setup to handle
I compared to last June, when I migrated from Hostgator to here, traffic per hour was half of what it is today
not only that, there were no logged-in users then
this matters because logged-in users do not get cached pages, so they eat up a little extra cpu power
plus there was no very dynamic and ever-changing /activity/ section

point is, I think things have grown too much for the current server and I need to upgrade again

you need freaking ‘super hyper server 9000 deluxe’
lol
seriously though not really, you’d be shocked the types of supercomputers they sell, such overkill unless you’re Facebook
meanwhile SN is sitting at the kids table with safety scissors drooling on itself on their still-expensive low-power server

Maybe you should just spend that one extra dollar. I know it’s precious to you but, go on, just one…
