    All vr news so far

(List starts off with the latest news)

Alright, Chyll had covered the games aspect of vr news, and he has done a wonderful job. Please go check out his post, it is the pinned post on this group.

Now we get into the other aspects of vr

The Quest 3 will most launch date of 2023, have a price between $300 – $500, have pancake lenses, have an usb-c port, most likely contain lcd displays, have an ipd slider, built in volume, most likely having a fan, have the Snap Dragon XR2 Gen 2 chip, most likely have a resolution of 2064×2208 per eye, 12gb of ram, up to 512gb of storage, have a 120Hz refresh rate, and more (more in these videos:

And speaking of new stuff coming in 2023, roblox vr may come to the stand-alone meta headsets later 2023, although this isn’t confirmed.

Now onto sad news, the quest 1 is getting discontinued.

There will be no new features shipping to it, social features are being cut, and the software will stop being maintained come 2024.

Here what meta said when this was addressed by them.

“We launched Quest 1 over four years ago and we are grateful to the Quest 1 community for pushing VR forward. As we look to the future, we remain committed to supporting the community of Quest 1 users and will continue to support the headset with a few changes:

You will still be able to use your Quest 1 headset and available apps.

We won’t be shipping new features to Quest 1.

We plan to continue maintaining the system software with critical bug fixes and security patches until 2024.

Quest 1 users will no longer be able to create or join a party.

Quest 1 users who currently have access to Meta Horizon Home social features will lose access to these features on March ‌5, ‌2023. You won’t be able to invite others to your Home or visit someone else’s Home”

Moving onto less sad news, Pavlov VR (not to be confused with Pavlov shack, the quest port) was confirmed to be a launch title for the PSVR 2, and it will support cross play! This is great news as not only does this bring a new wave of users to Pavlov, meaning this game will get more revenue, which means more money to maintain and update the game, it means more accessibility to this great, fun vr shooter. And since it is cross play, you’ll be able to play with your PSVR 2 friend while you are on pcvr and vice versa.

Onto other fantastic news, Windlands 2, a combat platformer game, is coming to the Quest 2. However, it will not support Crossplay or Cross buy.

And lastly, v49 for the Meta Quest is coming out shortly, which would contain new home environments and more parental control features.

    Anyways, that is all, goodnight!

Alright, day 3 of nightly vr news, you know the drill.

The previously mentioned Vive XR Elite was confirmed to be $1,099, and started preorders. If you preorder now you get 5 popular titles bundled with it, however those titles I could not find the names of. It has a combined 3840 x 1920 resolution.

A company known as Rendever, which focuses on creating vr experiences for the elderly to make those of them who are lonely feel less lonely, just acquired Alcove, a family social meet up platform. The links to their sites below

    Rendever: https://www.rendever.com/

Razor just announced their Quest 2 Headstrap and facial interface. It is said to be made out of a high-performance nylon material to ensure quality weight distribution, a soft strap, and a slip on design. It is also said to block light while still allowing ventilation, and will supposedly eliminate facial pressure. It is also adjustable.

Here is a quote from them in a press statement

“Designed for long-lasting comfort and weight-balanced support, the Razer Adjustable Head Strap System was created with all head shapes in mind. The high-performance nylon material provides reliability, comfort, and durability while the optimized weight distribution allows for more balance during active gameplay. The soft adjustable straps will help gamers find their perfect fit and quick slip-on design ensures little interruption in resuming gameplay”

There’s a lot of promise in this head strap, but the one thing I’m not looking forward too is the price.

The platform known as Wave, known for hosting digital concerts, just partnered up with Pico despite ending their vr concerts a few years back. The concerts will be available on the Pico Neo 3 and the new quest competitor, the Pico Neo 4. Just note that these concerts will not be available in the US, and instead take place in Europe and Asia. (Unless you have one of these headsets in the US, I’m not too sure if it would work if you had it imported here)

Its debut concert is set to feature The Calvin Harris Experience, taking place on January 13th at 8:00PM GMT. It will last around an hour, with its contents being a five-minute preshow and 25 minutes exclusive extended set. (I don’t know what the latter is, however, it is included)

To join this concert, you need to download the Pico Video app from the headsets App Store, and choose the Calvin Harris experience in your video feed on the day of the concert.

Rebroadcasts will re-air daily on weekends starting Jan 14-26 at 8pm GMT.

On the Steam Hardware Survey, Windows Mixed reality was the fastest growing headset type in December, this is due to the HP Reverb G2 getting steel discounts. This is the first time this has happened in years. (Referring to Windows MR topic)

Not much news, sorry guys. This took a while to make do I hope you find this helpful. So goodbye, and goodnight!

Time for day 2 of vr news.

Starting off with the Psvr2, Gran Turismo 7 will be getting a free psvr 2 upgrade, and best saber is currently in development for the platform.

The upcoming Apple Vr/Ar headset had a couple of its features announced, and they are as follow

    – A waist-mounted battery, connected via a magnetic, MagSafe-like power cable to the headset’s headband. One battery charge lasts no longer than two hours, but users can swap the battery out for longer sessions.
    – A design that uses aluminum, glass, and carbon fiber to reduce its size and weight. Cameras are largely concealed for aesthetic reasons.
    – A small, Digital Crown-like dial on its right side that enables users to quickly transition between the virtual and physical world. Unlike the Apple Watch, it will not offer haptic feedback.
    – Apple has developed different headbands, including one for consumers made of a similar material to Apple Watch sport bands with built-in speakers, and one targeted at developers.
    – Magnetically attachable custom prescription lenses for glasses-wearers.
    – Small motors to automatically adjust its internal lenses to match the wearer’s interpupillary distance, providing the largest field of view possible for each individual.
    – A 120-degree field of view, like the Valve Index – more than the Meta Quest Pro’s 106-degree field of view.
    – The H2 chip for ultra-low latency connection with the second-generation AirPods Pro and future AirPods models.
    – Two chips, including a main SoC, including a CPU, GPU, and memory, and a dedicated image signal processor. Both are fabricated with a 5nm process, meaning that the headset misses out on advancements expected to come to other Apple chips later this year. The chips communicate via a custom streaming codec that Apple was forced to develop due to unacceptable latency.

The headset known as the XTAL 3, known for being highly advanced (and highly expensive) is getting a wireless option, expecting to launch in late 2023.

A game known as “Smog in the Smoke” will be getting a psvr2 remaster known as “Smog in the Smoke: Rekindled”, and will release on February 22

HTC Is releasing a new consumer headset, reportedly called the Vive XR Elite, will most likely cost $1,400, and due to its features, (“listed here: https://www.roadtovr.com/htc-mr-headset-meta-quest-pro/), is currently being considered as a quest pro competitor.

And that’s it, sorry for being vague and for this not having much. Much of the news today was either

    A.) Vague

B.) Containing very little besides a list of features and some minor details

    Or

C.) containing little confirmed info and instead talked about leaks

But I hoped you enjoyed it nevertheless, goodbye fellow vr enthusiast!

Hello everyone, here a small, healthy dose of vr news that I will forcefully inject into your neck

Playstation and psvr titles confirmed for a free psvr 2 upgrade.

(This means the game will work on both psvr headsets instead of having 2 separate versions, however it also means in resident evil village’s case that it is getting a vr mode for psvr 2, but it was originally a flat screen game)

    1.) After the fall

    2.) No Man’s Sky

    3.) Resident Evil Village

    4.) Pistol Whip

    5.) Zenith, the last city

    6.) The Last Brigade

7.) Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue

Now with that out of the way, let’s move onto other vr news

A popular upcoming vr game known as Vertigo 2 recently updated its demo that it had up for 3 years, these are the improvements:

The game has a planned release for SteamVR headsets on March 30, 2023.

There is a pair of haptic gloves that just met it’s kickstarter that looks interesting, but I’ll post about that once I have more research.

    Now onto the next topic.

Steam revealed the top selling vr games of 2022, which you can see here:

    https://store.steampowered.com/sale/BestOf2022?tab=5

Only 2 games on platinum we’re from 2022, Zenith: The Last City and Bonelab, the majority (making up 25 percent of the platinum tier) were released in 2017.

A mixed ar/standalone vr headset is starting to ship to early kickstarter backers, more info on that headset soon.

Later this year, a face tracking mask called “X Mask” Will be available for $90, and reportable has 95 percent accuracy. It will be available in the US and Japan

Meta acquired a company that 3d prints lenses known as “Luxexcel”

I’m a bit late to this but the Quest 2 will receive an automatic performance boost in apps as of v49, (not out yet)

And here is a list for all announced psvr 2 games.

Here’s Every Game Announced for PSVR 2

(This is a comment from the first day of vr news that I put)

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention!

We have proof that hell exist, as the blurry, glitchy pile of shit known as
Hitman 3, with its terrible mechanics as well, won Vr game of the year on steam!

But again, most people who voted probably didn’t even have a vr headset, but they just saw Hiram. 3 vr, and went like “ooh, that game is good on me compooter, imma hit this button).

    ______________________________________________________

Anyways, that is all the vr news. I catalogued it here so people have easier access to it and so it gets more attention since it is day time
