Hate to break it to you guys, but Garfield literally couldn’t eat lasagna. You see, garlic is extremely toxic towards cats (even in doses as little as a small clove) and in severe cases, garlic consumption can cause organ damage, organ failure and death. Garlic can also cause gastroenteritis (upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea). Lasagna (most of the time) has garlic in it (normally 2 cloves or so). So while yes, it is possible that Jon could’ve made lasagna without garlic, the truth is Garfield would be dead

    • Here’s the thing,

Jon fed Garfield, a cat he deeply loved, lasagna, and it killed him, and he felt deeply remorseful for that. So under all this stress and emotional damage, his brain created imaginary Garfield as a coping mechanism, and this version, instead of dying, grew to love lasagna. It’s also why he could talk.

Under all of this emotional damage and stress of murdering his beloved cat, he basically broke down and went sorta insane, so he thought this was real.

But hey, that’s just a theory.
