i crashed sn 5 times in 30 minutes trying to make 999,999 uncached nodes in one frame
due to the app having a built in limitation of 512mb, the app just kinda kills itself at around the 400k-800k mark
cached though you can probably go as far as you likemovieclips are still limited to 128k nodes, and you can’t copy paste frames that go above that limit, unfortunately
sprites are definitely less memory intensive than nodes and i genuinely highly recommend using them more than nodes for the sake of your sanity and your device
give me ideas on what i can do with sprites

as for general thoughts on the update itself, this’ll likely either make a new “meta” for animations, however, the community will likely take a while to use it in a manner that won’t look off, because it’ll take some time before everyone adapts to the new features
if you wanna see what the beta testers are doing with the beta, you can look at #sticknodes on twitter, as that’s where most of us post our stuff
also, importing a massive amount of sprites is very annoying, so for those who wanna do png sequences good luck 🫡
some other things:
– you can’t “save” specific sprites in a way like movieclips or figures, you can only save the image itself, and every time you import it, you have to crop it over and over again (there is an import crop regions function though, but i would’ve appreciated a pre-cropped sprite folder more)
– a workaround for the above thing would be using movieclips, as they’ll get embedded into the movieclip library, so you can share sprites that way
– there is no sprite limit, only the limitations of your sanity and your device
some things you’ll have to get used to
– +/- buttons for all the number inputs (e.g. filters, thickness, etc.) on the side only show up when you click on them, to turn this setting off, you can enable show +/- on startup in settings
– these buttons no longer increase / decrease in increments of 5, just 1s now
– for some reason removing the number on the input boxes makes it default into 1 instead of 0, but this is likely a bug
also, no stickfigure node limit increase 🙂

save the sprite to png, it saves the cropped verison
import sprite > select it
then you just gotta name is (maybe i’ll add name-autofill) and “import”
alternatively if its a spritesheet, save the region data to recreate all the selections/regions easily next time
Fuck you
it’s still tedious to re-import large ammounts of sprites regardless oh how much we save the PNGs
Sounds like there might be demand for an external png-sequence/video -> movieclip converter once the update releases 🤔
Maybe I should start reverse engineering the movieclip format…
Go fuck yourself

Jesus Christ that price
He thinks he’s worth it 😭
Like that time when he kept saying “don’t ask for lessons, I’m not telling you my secrets” over and over and over even though both collusion and Squi already knew how to do what he was doing.
And Vuice and Scout trooper
30 for a stickfigure is insane
I don’t think you can legally sell sticks unless somebody donated
i still have plans for further memory optimizations and fixing usability issues you mfs are reporting before it’s done
Fuck you
Is there gonna be a max sprite limit for one frame?
Probably not I think rolf took node limit from frames/projects off so
app limit: no
limit before your device dies: yes !
