Magellan sets sail from Spain
On September 20th, 1519, Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan set sail from Spain to find the Spice Islands of Indonesia. Even though Magellan himself did not make it, the ship and crew completed the first circumnavigation of the world, about 3 years later. Read more below:
