I bought the Cyclone 2 that I planned to buy a week ago, and found this after watching the controller review.

Summary: First-party controllers (official) suck ass, due to them using potentiometers that were never out of service for over 50 years.
Controllers with Hall Effect or TMR sticks are superior (last longer and cause less friction), and you can actually DIY install them on your existing controller with some soldering.
