i disagree heavily with the harshness he employed here but i do agree with his points
your stickfigure, while it was really good, was not in line with halloween and wasn’t all that spooky-themed it was just a lava monster
same with #4, it wasn’t all that spooky or halloween-themed in the slightest
3 should’ve been 2nd and fourth should not have been there, not what was actually there, sorry it was just kinda unfair to the actually halloween-themed ones
Actually, they were both monsters with monsters that associated with Halloween. But we put a clever spin on things and did something that has rarely been done. Also, Lava Monsters can be done as a Halloween thing but most people don’t do it because it’s too much work and/or it’s too difficult. And a creature like 3 definitely deserves to be Halloween worthy, it’s cool, it’s nightmarish, it’s chaotic looking. Same goes for the Lava monster.
Besides, he is just basically saying “oh, it’s a lava monster that I rejected from CD and a alien that looks pretty fresh. But they are not the typical stuff I see everyday so they don’t count.” If that’s the case, than the Dire Wolf should be attacked to. Because it’s a fortnite skin not Halloween. I’m not belittling anyone or anyone’s creations like @epitaph200 is clearly doing, I’m just saying that it’s unfair that we should be attacked just because all the stuff he wanted to win didn’t make it.
difference is the number one spot has some halloween relevance in it’s appearance, it looks like a werewolf, the number three spot is very clearly a halloween fig, number two doesn’t really convey a halloween theme in and of itself, the fourth doesn’t either, the fifth is a spooky background.
1, 3 and 5 convey halloween/spooky themes, while it’s hard to think of 2 and 4 as “spooky”
It’s a monster and an alien dog. Both having ties to Halloween in some way shape or form.
Another thing is those things are typical and only one 3 of them can be used passed Halloween and still fit the theme of halloween.

Also, when there’s a theme, you aren’t supposed to be different, that’s called NOT doing the theme, it’s like doing a Christmas themed thing during it cause it’s ‘different’

It was something that couldn’t be used for CD with you also bashed me for not reading your long freaking description of rules and crap! So I figured, I could use this in the Halloween contest and/or maybe people will find it useful for other things. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking different approaches At things. If you want to do Christmas different, that is your Choice, if you want to do a different job from your friends, that is your choice. If you want to go down the different route other than list-of-crap-people-will-expect-to-see, THAT IS YOUR CHOICE!

Of course if your character’s body is different you’re probably gonna start from scratch
Look, I didn’t use the original because it looked aged and outdated. If I did take the orignal and edited to be Halloween themed, it would look goofy. Also, I could fit the features on the head. So I started from scratch and did a full make over when I submitted it, I thought it looked good but then I advanced it more.
Also Ralph (The creator of the contest) has said that it was less about the theme
And more about how scary it was on an idividual level
You can argue creator’s intent all you want
But it got second place for a reason

People said that to me all the time when I was just starting up, and the best way to deal with it is to simply not care. You got second place, focus on that! Be happeh for that!
