The RPD is a derivative of the original AK. The Soviet Union modified the AK platform to suit all of thier needs.
The owrk on the RPD began in 1943 and the AK on 45 , but , yeah it was inspired from the SKS more than the RPD
The original modernization of the AK was the AK-12. The AK15 was the enhancement of the AK-12. But most modernized, the AK-15 answer makes sence. The RPD is also an LMG that derived of the AK-47 like Terraria said. It came after and not before so the AK can’t base off of it.
