Because effects dominate maybe I just have to accept that I suck at making effects so I will never get featured by making them
It’s usually hit or miss. Mainly effect needs to fit in many types of popular Animations.
most of the UC voters care more about detail than usability.
like, a figure can be detailed and complicated, but it wont get too much downloads because most of the time, these detailed figs are either for situations that are too specific or just too hard to animate with.
if you want to get featured, git gud or go for usability.
Yeah, Squido’s got it nailed down pretty well.
Basically what’s happened is that Featured is for Things people can use almost universally, and UC is for things Big Kids like.
It’s a pretty decent system if you ask me.
i wouldnt call the uc voters as big kids considering you can literally just get uc voter by spamming in comments
id say its better off back then by being handpicked

i can tell its from the influence of the few high ranks who value detail over actual animation quality
i find it really fking dumb considering how detail is more favored over good anims for the people who arent as experienced.
like, imagine animating angles and complicated shots while trying to keep the detail consistent
its just impossible
half of the detailed figures in the site are useless and only fit for the most specific situations anyway.

This is why I’m more a fan of dynamic effects. Where you use your skills to animate the effects but are able to fit it consistently anywhere

because outside of the website, literally no one cares about the detail unless its a bg or smth
All you have to do is pour hours in to making something hyper detailed, but still usable, like my soda cans
I can do that in 30 minutes if I use the correct colors
