Read the rules: http://sticknodes.com/the-christmas2020-animation-contest/
When your animation is done and uploaded to Youtube, make an update post below linking it. It obviously has to be a public video.
One entry per person. If you make a new entry, be sure to specifiy it’s a replacement.
I will keep a post that I will update periodically with a list of all entries, in the form of a list of [name … youtube link]. That post is here: http://sticknodes.com/members/ralph/activity/923314/
Please do not @ me when you make the post with your animation. I will check this group and update the above post once every day or two. So again, please no “@ralph here is my entry lololo” please…please.
-
Iv’e just seen all the entries in this contest, and for sure i ain’t in the top 3
-
Hey hey Ralph remember visual isn’t just everything how sweet the animation is is what matters…….. you gotta think big man
-
Greatest words of inspiration
-
I’m sure he already realises this.
The criteria would likely be:
– Visual Elements
– Concept / motive
– Other unique elements like wholesomeness, humour etc.
– Stick Nodes related
– Animated wellKeep in mind there isn’t a criteria from last I checked however and it will all be judged by generally being good, this isn’t concerning either as Ralph has had experience with animations and reviewing them so it’s in good hands in terms of judgement.
-
Replying to:
Main criteria is just to make it fun to watch.
-
Replying to:
What about timing
-
Replying to:
That falls under
– Visual Elements
And
– Animated well.-
Replying to:
Lol the VP animation passed the time bro……
Ralph told us 2 mins and made it clear that any animation that’s more that 120seconds would not be counted and now VP animation is 2min 18second wtf is going on if he fucking wins then that’s just cheating-
Replying to:
I wouldn’t be surprised
Anyways it’s what dey always do -
Replying to:
I don’t think the judge / potentially judges would be that picky, they’d likely still accept it, plus there is some additional parts at the end for text so I personally would still count the entry valid.
I know you want to win but at this point you’re just coming across as offensive to the judges and participants.
-
Replying to:
Oh well may the best man win
-
Replying to:
Indeed
-
-
-
Replying to:
credits scenes + intros dont count towards the time limit of the animation
-
Replying to:
TF do you want with him lol
-
Replying to:
Damn , looking back this does not look good on your part champ
-
Replying to:
What do you mean?
-
Replying to:
“Ralph told us 2 mins and made it clear that any animation that’s more that 120seconds would not be counted and now VP animation is 2min 18second wtf is going on if he fucking wins then that’s just cheating”
That’s reaching for straws to the Max
-
Replying to:
Ooh ok
I thought there was some kind of hidden context or something
Guess I was overthinking it lol-
Replying to:
Ahh , I see
Nahh I just decided to look back on this
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
The criteria isn’t just how “sweet the animation is”, but the whole video.
-
Are you just doing this because of VP’s post ?
They’re the judges anyways
If they want to declare me the winner all of the sudden , they basically can , it’s a opinion based competition , not fully about skill in anything really
It’s up to the judges on how they feel
-
Replying to:
gotta respect the hustle bro my man’s desperate for that win
-
Replying to:
Don’t hurt me
-
-
-
-
We shall protest if anything fishy is done…
-
And hey how many animations gets to win I can’t just stay up do a 2 mins animation and win nothing
-
Three winners.
-
despite the effort, at the end of the day it’s still a contest and only the best of the best entries can actually land a spot on the winners
it’s for the sake of fair game, don’t try to force suspicions or start scandals if you don’t end up getting the result you attain, everyone should be a good sport.
-
Squi stole @tastylemon16 ‘s , Pope Badge

Someone call the cops
-
-
Not my best work but I’m proud of it
Just hoping to get be at least a runner up
Feel free to criticize my work
-
Wow, I thought sincerely that mine had a shot at winning, if I ever completed it, but at this rate, mines gonna look like utter shit, and it\’s really not nearly Christmassy enough
Actually, about that
@ralph, does it need to be like, Santa Claus eating candy canes and delivering presents in the snow levels of Christmassy, or can it just be a very wintery animation with Christmas undertones, like Die Hard?
-
its tough to say lol
like the original post said:
“Theme is vague to allow for creativity, but anything that strays too far from the point will be disregarded. For example, an RHG-style fight where the characters are wearing Santa hats – and nothing else – will not be considered “Christmassy”-enough for entry. However, maybe they are battling Santa? Or stealing presents/climbing a Christmas tree? That would be better.”
is about the best i can describe it
its up to your judgement
…and then my judgement
-
-
This my entry
-
Uh
This is uh
Something
-
I love the amount of effort you put into this.
LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE -
It’s not too bad although it’s a little bland, it lacks direction.
I’m not saying it needs in depth story or any for that matter but it to sum it all up, it was just a bunch of stickfigures doing random Christmas things, while keeping consistent with the guidelines it still doesn’t seem unique or really that interesting.
Add some text next time and keep to fewer characters and scenes, maybe include some kind of motive, for example, ‘Ralph becomes Santa and delivers presents to users’.

-
Can I submit now or I should wait till tomorrow
-
Current progress on the animation:
50% Done, The rest I will do tomorrow.
When exporting it seemed really fast even though when making it, it looked normal, this was because the lag made it slower than what it would be when exported so I exported 3 times, twice because of weird anti-aliasing export and as I mentioned third because of export speeds, the animation is put into the editor I use and music has been added so I only need to complete the rest by tomorrow and that’s it.
-
to get rid of the lag (obvious stuff incoming) temporarily turn off filters (at least blur and glow) and also tweening
should play at relatively close to the correct pace
-
hi person who had the same problem here
i highly recommend cacheing / using cached movieclips to reduce lag from filters overall, as stuff like blur and opacity when cached still show up even when filters are disabled, which will reduce lag significantly + play the animation at normal speed under most circumstances
stuff like in-app rendering may look weird when cached but it looks completely normal when exported
-
Replying to:
Thanks for the help, i’ll make sure to give it a try next time the issue arises since I managed to fix it.
-
-
1: Make it to where you don’t see the frames before and after your current frame that you are on.
2: Go into the filters settings and turn off glow and blur.
3: Movieclip cache. When you have a high node background use this.

My entry for the contest…
-
Tried my best to improve the visuals, but its the only much i could do.
Please don’t break my heart by saying its not similar to the theme, its completely holiday related-
Replying to:
Bro pls Finnish it ill love to see what happens next
-
-
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
-
Replying to:
Yeahp it it’s similar you could at least gone online and stolen a story to animate from….. but still this is a fantastic story I love it…
-
Replying to:
Yeah, at first I went straight onto youtube to steal an idea and wonderfully failed.
Then I heard something about robbers and got this idea. I hope i haven’t stealed any former’s idea
-
-
-
See, I haven’t @ him so he hasn’t reacted on it yet…
Now I’m starting to wonder if my animation is considered or not lol…-
Replying to:
He’s added you to the entry list. Think he might watch it later.
-
-
-
-
This would definitely steal the show
-
That thumbnail looks like the art from that video saying “it’s Minecraft Steve, he’s turned your world into his and now he wants to kill you-“
-
I love the kurtzgasazgataht style, the animation is so beautiful
-
This is amazingly well done.
I am refusing to believe this is sticknodes….
-
@ralph , petition for this to win. give him not only a
Christmas contest badge, but a badge designed specifically for him.Don’t only give him money, but send him a burgazr.
give him not 100$ but 150$
——-You did damn well.
-
Replying to:
i’m all up for sending burgazr instead of money!

just that’s my reaction to the quality-ass thumbnail *and* your profile picture
-
Home alone if Santa arrived before the robbers did
-
How can one tell this is sticknodes???
-
Replying to:
It’s a nice and smooth animation but I don’t find it interesting all he did was got in the house tried to have a cookie and started shouting like an idiot …. it doesn’t have a sweet story to it..
-
Replying to:
But good job
-
Replying to:
You can clearly see that I’ve planned stuff ahead of time. I don’t just “think of the stuff” and then animate right when I can think of it. If you are confused about the story, we can have a conversation elsewhere explaining the whole plot and stuff.
-
-
Replying to:
@“how can one tell this is sticknodes”. That’s the point of this video, pushing the limits of the animating app to the Max. It demonstrates to the viewers that if someone was able to it, you can also do it too. The reason he shouted like an “idiot” was because I felt like it was too quiet after I added music and stuff. It’s an addition. I have all the stickfigures used in this video. I can just submit them to Ralph right now and have him post everything on the website if you want proof.
-
-
-
ok i give up theres no way i can finish this in time
- Load More

This is too accurate
Gonna need more RAM boah.(read in Arthur Morgan’s voice).
It actually happened to me last night.
It happened to me approximately 3 hours ago
@Ralph why must this be a thing like that.
Why.
It just hurts.
it is kinda bad
there’s really no way around it tho :/
maybe i can get the app to check saving/space left on startup and warn the user
wait thats actually a good idea
Yes. Also option to maybe save to gdrive or so if that’s doable.
i don’t *think* that would work, you still need local storage at least temporarily to send the file over a network to the cloud
i looked up “lewd cloud” to just post a random penis-shaped cloud here
forgot that was also the name of a prominent dude from final fantasy
i’ll be back i need to go lie down
You always end up trying to look for a picture to respond to me and always find something you didn’t intend to see.
Yeah from my knowledge even uploading already existing file to drive actually creates additional temp file for some reason. Its pain as you cant actually send stuff to them when low on space so lmfao.
