The Echostalker is a sophisticated ambush predator indigenous to the dense forested regions of Searia.
Known for their remarkable auditory mimicry skills, these creatures have evolved a fascinating mechanism to lure unsuspecting prey.

Thriving in cooperative packs, Echostalkers utilize vocal mimicry as the main part of their hunting strategies. By mimicking almost any sound from their environment, they lure unsuspecting prey with a strange symphony of sound, straight into a lethal ambush.
Notably intelligent, Echostalkers possess a complex social structure centered around vocal prowess, where the dominant Echostalker is recognized by their ability to make the loudest and intricate sounds.

The packs of Echostalkers engage in communal activities such as synchronized songs and vocalization, which serve multiple purposes.
These harmonies foster social bonds and serve purpose in mating rituals, where individuals show their vocal talents to potential mates.

Echostalkers exhibit a unique adaptation involving the alternation of their fur color to match the planets changing environment.
During the planets alternating blue and orange semesters, the Echostalkers undergo a remarkable shedding and regrowth process to better blend into their surroundings.

When ambushing, the Echostalkers use their uniquely shaped beaks to make deep devastating injuries into their prey for quicker and more efficient kills.
They also utilize their unique forelimbs to grab and restrain prey, sometimes even stabbing into them.

Interestingly, the Echostalkers’ aggressive nature, unique adaptations and predatory tactics have significantly reduced the number of potential predators willing to engage them.

Given their dangerous nature, Serpian society has taken measures to control their population, including the placement of warning signs in areas where Echostalkers are known to inhabit, ensuring the safety of passersby.

Furthermore, they share a distant evolutionary kinship with the Serpians. Despite the apparent differences in their forms and behaviors, the Echostalkers and Serpians trace back to common ancestry.

The Serpians kind of big Fr Fr

This cave painting was found deep within a tunnel.
It was created using a mixture of crushed minerals and pigments, applied by the skilled hands of an early Serpian artist.

The painting is large, spanning the entire length of the cave wall. It depicts a scene of great importance to the Serpians, a moment from their early history that has been passed down through generations via oral tradition.

At the center of the painting is a depiction of deep space, painted with blues, blacks and purples.
A big yellow circle and a smaller orange circle depict the stars Searia orbits and surrounding those are a small amount of smaller circles, each one representing a different celestial body.
Some are decorated with symbols and patterns representing them.

Serpians are a highly evolved and highly intelligent that inhabit the planet of Searia.

Each Serpian has a skull that’s armed with three beaked jaws and a strong bite force to crack tough fruits. Their jaws are agile and can move independently of each other, allowing them to grasp and manipulate objects with great precision.
They have four arms that serve different purposes. Their upper pair are nimble and dexterous; they’re used for actions that require more precision and delicacy like grabbing grubs from inside tiny crevices or making rudimentary tools.
Meanwhile, their lower arms have less dexterity and flexibility, but are stronger and more muscular instead; they are used for actions that require more strength like holding heavy objects or fending off danger. At the end of each of these arms are their hands, with two fingers and two thumbs, offering high flexibility and maneuverability.
Their long, slender legs are built for running and have double-jointed knees that allow for greater stride length and speed, enabling them to reach speeds of up to 112kph. This was used to escape predators and keep on the move with the herd, as they were prey to many animals.
In modern times, Serpians have evolved to be social creatures that live in large communities where they work together to gather resources and protect one another. This negates the need to constantly be on the move; which means their legs no longer serve the same purpose, but they still prove useful when escaping attackers.
They communicate through a complex system of clicks, hisses, and chirps, using their sensitive antennae to detect and interpret subtle variations in the vibrations and tone of these sounds.
As an early sapient species, the Serpians have developed a primitive form of technology that allows them to create tools and weapons from the natural resources of their environment. They are curious and inventive, constantly experimenting with new ways to improve their tools anything and their understanding of the world around them.
Due to their long necks and superior sensory abilities, Serpians are natural explorers, and their communities often send out groups of scouts to explore the surrounding areas and discover new resources. They are also highly adaptable and have shown a remarkable sense ability to survive in a wide range of environments, from arid deserts to lush forests.

Truly a fascinating species, I can only wonder where this civilization will end up in the future and if they can be of use to me.

Supplementary Note: The names “Serpian” and “Searia” have been coined by me as an attempt to translate and comprehend the communication utilized by the extraterrestrial life form for themselves and their planet.

I believe I am set in the sapient species and their designs and biology, expect a post of them soon…I still gotta write stuff xd

“In the vast expanse of the universe, I have journeyed long and far, searching for any signs of resources that could help me thrive. Planet after planet, star after star.
The black void seemed endless, and my search felt futile. But at long last, I have found a glimmer of hope in the form of a planet I have dubbed 717-A for classification

In its early stages of development, the planet is shrouded in mystery, with most of its life concealed within the vast oceans. The atmosphere is composed of nitrogen and oxygen, with hints of carbon dioxide and frequent, intense weather patterns. The significant landforms are largely empty deserts with very little vegetation. I am curious if life much like myself will appear. Perhaps I am not alone in this vast void.

Although my observation of 717-A has yet to yield any signs of sapient life, I remain hopeful that I’ll find the resources I seek. The potential for discovery on this planet is immense, and I’ll remain ever vigilant in my data collection and observations. The secrets of 717-A await me, and I’m eager to uncover them.

Icks are rat-sized eusocial creatures who are widespread with many variations across the planet of Searia.

Worker Icks:
Worker Icks are female and most of them stay in the ant nest and complete tasks like tending to the young. The workers go out on expeditions to gather food, usually five to six of them group up along with 2 soldiers.

Certain species of Icks have the ability to explode in defense of the colony, using a burst of gas and a chemical reaction inside their body that ruptures their internal and external body, shooting off sharp fragments of their shell to damage those around them in defense of the colony and at the cost of their own life.

They have retractable mandibles inside of their mouths, used to scoop up food and carry large items back to the colony.

They can stick to most surfaces using the tiny hairs on their feet that help maximize contact with surfaces, allowing van der Waals forces to go to work (this is seen in the soldiers too).

Their bright yellow coloring on their shells is a instance of Aposematism (the advertising by an animal to potential predators that it is not worth attacking or eating).

The red colors of their eyes is caused by the lack of pigmentation in their pupils, the red you see is due to the light reflecting off the blood vessels in their eyes.

In the past, Icks were used as a “natural grenade” by early civilizations on the planet. The Icks would be sedated, captured, tied with a rope around their neck, and thrown as a grenade when needed. However, this practice has been largely discontinued due to the potential harm it causes to Ick populations.

Ick Soldiers:
Soldier Icks are larger and stronger than the worker Icks, with more powerful mandibles that work like pincers to defend the colony against predators. They also accompany worker Icks on expeditions to protect them.

The production of soldier Icks is regulated by the colony itself, with a rudimentary organ appearing only briefly during the final stages of larval development in some of the Icks. This organ determines whether the Ick will become a soldier or a worker, and helps maintain a balance between the two.

Some variations of Icks have soldiers with a flat, hammer-like head that is used to block the entrance to the colony’s nest.

Expeditions:
Expeditions are searches for food for the colony often done by 6 workers to scavenge and 2 soldiers to protect them.

They walk in a specific formation to appear as a larger, unappetizing creature to disinterest sky predators.
