It all depends on style, style gets developed by time and experimenting. Find your comfort level. Every style might have issues and sometimes you’d have to set on making changes or finding ways to overcome them.
Though good start is to actually just look up 12 principles of animation.
It’s kinda like elementary school for beggining animators. Alan becker covered it quite nicely.
