4 years ago. When the law was being established it was stated that there IS a middle ground between adult targeted and child targeted content. And that is content that appeals to everyone.
Yet YouTube decided to be a lazy and tricky sack of crap and not include that option.
Child targeted content are banned and fined by Coppa. For fair reasons. And adult content is obviously prohibited and/or demonitized as they aren’t suitable for advertisers. But YouTube has done even bigger fuck-all and is considering of letting R-rated ads for adult content. So possibly, but I hope not likely – Brazzers, Porn hub and all that stuff.
So yeah. Everything is actually on YouTube again for doing questionable shit on their site and fining creators as they got screwed up by their broken system.

Yeah, they will lose at least a million account, that MAY includes PewDiePie. I don’t want to lose my favourite channels, Not Mark, Game Hard, EB’s channel, Deoxide, Boris, Scorpo, Kaiser and others. They’ve been posting vids for years. But the rule is like a cruel king of a kingdom.

regardless of the actual “law” and reasoning behind it, the problem is Youtube’s algorithms can’t be trusted
source: every legitimate Youtube creator plagued by false-positive copyright claims, malicious copyright claims, and being demonetized for the stupidest reasons

this is a good thing imo
maybe not super-R rated ads, but ads for more “mature” things or just in general edgy ads will finally give relief to channels that have been so negatively affected by Youtube 4 Kidz™ approach they seem to be going now for some asinine reason, why this wasn’t a thing from day 1 I have no idea
While yes. I get what you mean with the ads. And I fully support ads for a bit of older audience, considering how youtube handles their stuff we don’t really know what will come in adverts. Not to mention cause of youtube’s system it’s gonna be really only just adult ads or child ads so wtf.

i’d guess it’d just be more similar to the type of pothead-up-late-at-night ads you see on cartoon network during late-night adult swim hours which is just munchies food, condoms, and anti-smoking ads and shit
While he- may have been too set on these sort of stuff. I am just more of “i don’t know what to expect from youtube so i’ll expect everything”

Parents: does nothing about it
Kids: watches stuff they shouldn’t be watching
Youtube: brags about how a lot of their audience is kids
COPPA: You talking mad crud for someone within Wifi distance

Youtube: Alright, creators, it is now your job to keep kids off of our platform and make every single video of yours either kid-friendly or KIDS MUST NOT WATCH THIS GOSH-FORSAKEN CONTENT without any middle ground, and if you get it wrong (e.g, every time), you get SUED $42000!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!11!!
