Bad news. 3am I woke up do the sound of my dad and my mom crying. So I got up and already new that it was my families cat, Sungmin. For 3 months she survived many symptoms that where bad enough. She quite eating to the point of starving herself. She was weak to the point of hardly being able to stand. As much as we force fed her, it wasn’t enough. What got me is seeing my dad, one of the most toughest people I’ve ever seen break out into tears knowing that a cat the entire family loved died. He was the one to find out. It’s 7am as of me typing this comment and I haven’t slept since 3am. This honestly has hit harder than anything else in my life has. Man, I too almost never cry, I don’t cry to pain or anything else but this broke me. 3am in the morning I got up and went to say goodbye, I closed her eyes, gave her a kiss on the head and some final pets. Thank you for your support on my previous update on this issue. I will need to give myself a few weeks. Maybe a month to cope with this. I’ve almost never experienced a loss like this ever besides losing my families last cat Simba. This really sucks a lot for me because this is the same cat I went to when I felt I was losing myself to stress and felt like just ending my own pain. Only route from on here is to just keep going though. I may have lost my cat physically. But mentally and spiritually, she is still with me and my family. I feel like I failed her but there’s an entire family that tried to save her. Whether it’s true or false, I’m going to keep our second cat that is the sister of Sungmin close. Our second named Rebel I think understands that her sister is gone. If so, then we are good. I just need to make sure my brother and my sisters say their goodbyes. As much as this hurts me and tore my interest to animate away from me now, I’m going to continue working on animations and figures like before. Even though it feels like I’m jumping back 12 years when we had only one cat. If any of you have pets, spend as much time as you can with them. You never know if something like this may start happening for a month or 2. We though first thought she would make it, then it looped between the possibilities of here living and dying and unforturnatly the worst possibility happen. My family is going to go to my grandmas to bury Sungmin, my grandmas farm is where she was born and my grandmas farm has a pet cemetery there. We made our decision to bury her there. Rest In Peace Sungmin. Here are some photos of my caf Sungmin.

I suppose the last few hours I spent with her comforted her. The issue with Sungmin dying is that she was 4 years old. Too young to go. Though she isn’t suffering anymore so that’s a piece of mind for me and my family.

    • It sucks and it sucks for a while, but it does get better. Everyone with a pet regrettably is signing up for some type of heartache in the future…

Been there done that. Sorry for what you’re going through. From how much you/your family care and the pics it’s clear she had a great life and that’s all you can really hope to provide a pet so don’t feel bad. You’re lucky to have other pet(s) right now though, I think that helps a little. In my case we just had our one cat so once he was gone it was just empty.

We lost our family cat a few years ago. He was about 10-11 and we had him for a little less than half of my life at the time. Went downhill slowly over the course of the last few months, we thought just aging, but in December one day he suddenly was hit with something and couldn’t walk without a severe limp, then not at all. Likely some type of clot. Soon after Christmas we had to put him to sleep (quite the jolly holiday season). I was the only one present at the time and I too had to close his eyes so I can relate to you with that part.

Thank you for that. I slaps you really hard when you think a young 4 year old cat will last for a while, maybe till 15 but you cat just gets hit with the possibilities of leukaemia and possibly hypothermia or just simply starvation. We tried to feed her on many occasions but she just couldn’t seem to take it. Sucks that she had to go now when starting school because school isn’t all so pleasant for me. Though I’ve found my other cat Rebel understand that her sister is gone and she’s spent a fair bit of time hanging around everyone.

That’s because cats and pets in general are family. They may not be related to us, but they connect and treat us like family. It’s only right we treat them that way back. We buried her at my grandmas farm where she was born. My family has made the decision to visit her every so often. I never thought it could happen with her though.

    • I’m so sorry Sungmin passed I know what your going through right now I had a cat named Macy she lived to 16 but then left us last year…. I was personally close she was in a lot of pain, she had horrible Arthritis being 16 years old… she would always walk around the entire house saying hi to everyone, she reminded me of an old lady trying hard to get her exercise, but then she got sick and couldn’t get up anymore she couldn’t eat anymore and was in horrible pain so we ended up putting her down… we buried her next to the biggest oak tree in the yard, I didn’t make this comment to make this about me I just want to say that you aren’t alone and when a pet that close dies you feel like the world is spinning out of control and there’s nothing you can do to stop it, but remember that the bond you made with Sungmin she was just as close to you as you were to her…. my condolences to you and your family

    • I feel your pain. I used to have a grey cat named Smokey. I loved him so much I got my mom to buy me a stuffed cat that looked just like him. He passed away when I was only 5. Soon after, I lost the stuffed cat. Even to this day, 9 years after he died, I still cry at night if I look too far back.

I’ve managed to get used to when I lost my old cat Simba. He died when I was 4 or 5 yet it seems lile he held on to me for a lot longer than I saw him. It hurts me a lot to see a cat I had hoped to take outside as much as possible so she could run off the fat she used to have just die. What’s worse is I don’t even know which of the possibilities it was that killed her. Hypothermia from extremely low body fat, leukemia, starvation even though we force fed her so she would eat.
