Cowboys did NOT carry guns.
Cowboys back then were pretty much what modern days ranchers are, they wrangled cattle, and often made the bare minimum to afford food and clothes, which meant most of them couldnt afford firearms.
But even IF they could afford a firearm, it wouldnt matter since they were mostly employed by large ranchers or businessmen, and these same men prohibited them from carrying firearms when doing their work.So basically, NO Cowboys did NOT carry guns, the guys who carried guns were Gunfighters.
Cowboys were cattle handlers. The only reason \”Cowboy\” became the default name was because in the 40\’s – 50\’s it was much easier to just group them all into \”Cowboys\” rather than divide them into Gunfighter, Outlaw, Sheriff, Deputy, Marshall, etc etc.

There\’s a reason \”lost to history\” is a term.
We have no idea where and when Ned Kelly was born, Jack Mcall\’s killer Colt has yet to have been recovered, Black Bart dissapeared into thin air, most of Johnny Ringo\’s weapons were lost in the California fires, and entire regiments of the Roman empire are missing from historical records.
Time is a bitch, and in an era were things werent so easily recordable, shit got lost unfortunately, including people. -

its weird to think and realize that these people are dead
there is nothing left of them other than their belongings, descendants and this picture
like this the only proof they existed-

I seriously would love to take a time machine and just stand in the middle of places like this for hours.
Seeing it all like that would be on so many levels of unreal
