And I was also referring to scenes where the camera isn’t moving but movement is occurring within the frame (for example, a person moving or cars going back and forth in a road)

True. Honestly I think it’s just used WAY too much and I believe there are times where not using camera shake at all for some still scenes can be good
-
(Sort of?) Unpopular opinion: Throughout the time I’ve watched Sticknodes tutorials/tips and tricks videos, I’ve noticed that there are quite a number of people who suggest using the camera shake for still scenes.
Honestly I don’t like using it lol and I wouldn’t see myself suggesting this to someone in the near future.

That’s just a skill issue on their part lol

Honestly, with all the skill and talent the SN community has shown, I’m surprised there isn’t even at least one guy who’s attempted to do even a 5 second animation with cel shading in it. Sometimes I actually daydream about some guy managing to make a super short anime-quality animation with the SN app (which includes cel shading) lol

Hmm. I’ll go check him out

Don’t know what cel shading is? Just watch this and hope you actually understand something by the end of the video lol:
-
Random question: has there been any sticknodes animation in YT or smth that implements cel shading?
-
Heh?

I can’t say that it’s the same thing, but I’ve done something similar to cell shading. I know a few parts of Gigans figures have it, and I think Scouts figures are also either close to or actually considered cell shading.

Depends but often without the camera shake, a still frame for a long time can look like a picture and doesn’t captivate audience attention/give a feel of motion as much as with camera shake.

The problem with many of these tutorials and guides is that they serve as more a way for SN creators to show their way of doing things as well as follow a consensus for what would be the right steps to follow so that rather than explaining things clearly enough and in an understandable unique way, they can fill out the run time of these so called ‘ tutorials ‘.
I can almost guarantee if you ask anyone how to animate a walk cycle or really anything they’ll refer you to the ‘ 12 Principles of Animation ‘. Which while not wrong and still applicable under most circumstances, it still just serves as yet another generalisation of an explanation. One because people struggle to explain things / teach well and two, because it is a clear and roundabout option for them.
With camera shake as well I would say it only works well for impactful moments, if you really want to animate something like an impact of an attack, landing etc then it’s all about the movement and the pronunciation of said movement, part of being able to animate a fight scene comes from knowing a little about fighting yourself.
You try and teach someone how to throw a powerful roundhouse kick and then ask them to animate that and I can tell you now that they will know more about how to animate it than someone who has never been taught or practiced said roundhouse kick.
Prospects like shifting the force from the ground up into your attacks, torque, twists or all kinds, stances etc.
Well said!
And yes I did read all of that
Why torture yourself like that, don’t you know who I am.
