Thinking of adding a restriction in SN where a stickfigure cannot be created/saved unless there’s at least 1 non-static node (not counting the main node).

    1) If you create a stickfigure and go to save/add it, it will fail and say “nah son, make at least 1 node non-static”
    2) Existing figures with just the main node will work fine, but if you edit them, you won’t be able to save unless it meets the criteria of (1)

This one non-static node *should* be at least the node that rotates the whole stickfigure. But some people don’t build that way and might just make 1 nonsense node non-static. But at least the figure will have one grab-able node for when it’s joined, so it can be selected.

    Thoughts?

    • Make a node, that cant be moved in animate mode, but can be selected
I want to join stick figurse, but to do so I have to add and extra node that isnt static
      I keep accidently Moving it

I know what you’re saying but that’s a high-level thing that only like 10 people will properly utilize.

It’s a good idea don’t get me wrong, but I want to keep complexity down.

This can be easily replicated by just adding a non-static segment that is basically 0 length, so it doesn’t (can’t) move anyway, and is just selectable

People do this a lot for shoulders/hips where arms and legs get attached

    • It should be if it would be sent instead… Cause I sometimes have centered static circles in my projects for small touches in the animation :v

Also that image… The milk is stored into one tank from multiple cows so it’s pretty much guaranteed it had at least one cow that got milked before… What the heck am I talking about-

Butt it’s still good to have the one rotation node

I even though about having a non-deletable, always-stretchy invisible node that was attached to the main node

You can’t add anything to the main node, it all has to be added to that one default (non-static) stretchy node instead

        😮

What if you coded an option to add a rotational node-

Like if someone forgot to add rotation node they could choose to add a “segment” to rotate it that would simply correspond to the rotate knob if you are following what I mean lmao.

    • i mean this just gets rid of the functionality of the rotate stickfigure feature
(also, i agree with arc, it should only be with submissions)

      some people dont
and we are forces to use that horrible joystick thing to rotate it

      2019-04-03 12:49:58 UTC 2
      • Replying to: ████████ ██But why?

        1) be able to select a figure if it’s joined (some are unselectable at that point, no way to unjoin, need to delete the stickfigure it’s joined to in order to select it again (main node will become visible))

        2) it’s just good practice to have 1 node that rotates the figure

        2019-04-03 14:49:59 UTC 0
    • existing figures are unaffected

unless you go to edit one, then you won’t be able to re-save it until you make a node non-static

      2019-04-03 14:50:31 UTC 0
    • good idea in theory however in practice it would probably lead to people just making random asf nodes non-static so they can save it unless you explicitly state that it should be a rotator node

but even then people have like 0 cognitive skills when it comes to this and don’t understand wtf that means so that means >random non-static nodes to circumvent this rule

honestly that’s fine, not desired, but fine

but it looks like this idea is rustling everyone’s jimmies so nvm >_________>
