It was basically just a headcrab remodel in that it would jump at the player aiming its underbelly at them, and the only difference was that they couldn’t damage the player and would just bump into them and fall onto the floor.

That’s just like real life trust me (the torn flesh and bones in my basement are uh… unrelated to my never-ending hunger, just so you know.)
