I’m guessing he wants a crescent segment…

Replying to:
It tbh would be a useless edition ngl

That’s incorrect in my opinion, it could be useful for making the crescent of the moon without wasting time adding a circle then a smaller circle behind it.
Plus can be useful for the crescent of venus, and shadow of planets.
But this is just my opinion.
And ill respect yours that its not useful besides planets and moons.-

I meant like it’s pretty easy to simulate crescents
2 round segments or half eclipses work pretty good

Whilist… Would be useful as all hell ngl. Most of the shapes suggested are out of the question, it’s basically same deal with hollow circles.
You see, the renderer puts everything as a set of triangles actually. Squares, circles, everything is just made out of very small triangles (increased number if zoomed onto circular shapes). So far circles are most demanding, yet still retaining simple, pizza-cut like pattern. However rendering this shape the program would have to align all triangles correctly in a very miniscule scale. It’s hell

someone give me the math behind how to construct a crescent given an origin point, end point, length, and thickness thx
-
Replying to:
Well technically if you just take rendering of half circle, put also the rendering of half eclipsis and subtract from one another you should be getting the result-
Also now that I had said it they’d require the thickness AND girth of that crescent so lol
