Im very conflicted as well. Officers are being run over because of their jobs. Another officer got shot and killed in Oakland. You want to protest its fine. But complain about murder then commit murder baffles me.

If you look at it like this then you can see why people are destroying the country: Blacks have been free from their slavery since 1865 which is only 155 years. In those 155 years, they have been racially discriminated, bullied, tortured, and disrespected. When Martin Luther King Jr. came along and the Civil Rights Act came out in 1964, racial segregation ended. Since then and up until now there are people such as Derrick Chauvin who still harass, abuse, and kill black people simply for their color of skin. So when people say we need to peacefully protest, I can’t understand how. People defend school shooters and understand them because they have been bullied for 4 months but can’t understand an entire race who have been oppressed and enslaved for over 200 years. The outrage is reasonable and just in my opinion. Also, Trump was exposed by the group known by the name of Anonymous to having not consented sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old and has been the reason behind Jeffery Epstein’s killing. He’s been paying with his own money to keep Epstein’s killing a secret and away from the media. Hillary and Trump were both shitty choices for an election, Trump was better because he wasn’t going to start war however he’s not a good president either.

The looting and rioting is a result of systemic discrimination that has been going on for centuries. The looting for one isn’t happening everywhere, and also is a result of the neighborhoods kept impoverished by systemic racism. That doesn’t mean looting is good, but if you have a problem with looting you’d have less of a problem with BLM and more of a problem with the police and the systems that caused this. And Trump has been doing terribly since the riots started.

Of course there’s the classic “When the looting starts, the shooting starts!” which is prime presidential speak. He also ordered Riot Police to tear gas and fire rubber bullets at a peaceful protest so he could take pictures at a church. The U.S has had the highest death toll in the world mostly due to Trump’s poor initial response, calling the COVID-19 virus a “democratic hoax” and “another attempt to get me impeached”.

The root of the problem is the systems that have helped policemen like Derek Chauvin get away with things like this for so many years. The riots and protests aren’t just about George Floyd, it’s about the 200+ years of racial discrimination that led to that moment.

The state can’t discriminate against a certain demographic of people for so long and then complain when their streets are on fire. Blaming the riots on the rioters completely misses the point of why they’re rioting. Small Businesses aren’t going to recover if all we learn from this is “riots bad”. If the riots are successful in their message than we’ll be able to get the government to spend funding on revitalizing these small black communities. The more wealthy the community, the better these small businesses will be able to bounce back.
