While outdated by the newer Ion Rifle, Proton Rifles are still a very common sight to see, similar to how revolvers are still prevelent despite being outdated. commonly they are used by LAVR Warriors, Tryquilleeans in particular, Space Station guardsmen and some Space Pirates.

Thanks to it's reliable replaceble battery system, it has become a favourite in deffensive missions thanks to how long it can last compared to it's high energy Ion counter part. unlike the Ion Rifle's impressive fully automatic fire, the Proton Rifle is Semi-Automatic, some Burst-Fire in rare instances but these are merely either prototypes or modifications, less reliable than the current version.

In a way, it's the AK-47 of space.
