Thought I’d go ahead and write out my end of year post prematurely just to avoid it being too messy and tangling with any others to come.

Stick Nodes 2020

Last year was bumpy and despite the negativity we were all surrounded by, we did what we could and genuinely made some nice experiences and new friendships. Last year it seems many of us were able to kick off the ground and go somewhere with our choices and lives.

Whilst the community is as it is, being a Stickfigure animation community it’s just another place to socialise with people like-minded which despite appearances can be hard to come by nowadays. With age, gender etc, making friends and socialising can be challenging and isn’t always a case of confidence and just getting out there.

Stick Nodes 2021

Over the course of this year we’ve had a fair share of interesting experiences, and while nothing particularly major stands out about this year ( at least for me ) I feel like it’s been great for welcoming new users and new ideas to the community and Stick Nodes as a whole. Each year this community progresses I am more hopeful it can evolve into something greater every time and without fail it accomplishes this goal. This year feels like a part 2 to the last truly, which only leads to me expecting great things for the next, let’s hope that comes true.

Stick Nodes 2022..

Here it is fast approaching, the new year. It’s baffling how fast time can move but in many ways it’s what we do in that time that really counts as compared to how much of it we remember. I can’t say I know what the future will hold for the community but if things keep expanding and going as it does this place will only grow.

While we see users with 5 years or more around, when you consider it, that is only a chunk of teenage years. I use teenage years as an example because that’s what many of us are or will be, the site in many ways helps people mature and comes to terms with who and how they are. Developing themselves and having friends help along the way. The time we spend here as teenagers or young adults can be really beneficial and when It think that some of us are adults or almost ones it makes you question what will the community be like in the future, our age ranges are similar so would many of us stick around in our 20s.

Only the future will tell but whether we leave when we’re say 17, 18, 20, 25 or hell, even 30 I’m sure we can look forward to whatever comes our way.

Users

The very thing that makes Stick Nodes what it is, without the unique individuals here, on Discord, YT and other social media platforms Stick Nodes would be going around with no real name or notability, admittedly this is because it’s an animation app and is meant to serve a purpose to others. I still feel however compared to other communities, we all share a unique bond in some way that separates the SN community from others.

Gigan

You’ve been a good friend of mine for a while now I think since 2020 and I’m thankful to know you. Something I like about you is the wholesome / humble and ‘humanity’ in your nature despite face-value appearances, what with you being the crazy sex guy and whatnot. So much of what happens regarding socialising and confrontation has you in there somewhere, in many ways you’re like the glue to a lot of what goes on here and I think without you the site’s people would feel vastly separated. For me personally what you’ve indirectly taught me about friends and people has helped me a lot, while advice hasn’t been direct or straight-up, the whole concept of investing into others, being mindful and caring and not too serious taught me something valuable. As much as I would know to try, seeing your actions helps motivate me to be better where maybe I’m too cold and serious, something I overlook in my nature sometimes without realising.

I won’t ramble much longer otherwise this‘ll be a Gigan appreciation speech.

Quite the topic for discussion you are indeed, having gone from being neglected and treated negatively to becoming a better all-round person. You may be thinking why I’ve chosen to speak about you next of all people but it’s because I feel your progression is recognition to this community that if pushed in a positive direction and with enough wake-up calls, a person can really change, that determination and effort is what influences my opinion on you and why I respect you.

Last year you had left the site due to reasons to do with family if I remember correctly and we were left with a huge gap only to see you transition into someone inspiring and truly talented. Seeing you go from a guy to trans in a basically all-male site was quite the feat, you being as open and influential as you are is what leaves hope for the site, where it has been reductive in the past at times and criticised for being bad and having flaws your message to encourage awareness on not only the LGBTQ community but also being open to new people despite appearances and lack of understanding can and has really made an impact. It may be hard to see but these small changes and demands for self-respect and understanding of each other is what will help bring the community together.

MellowFellow

Your work is really entertaining, it seems everything you post or do is with care and effort rather than vain desires and half-assed efforts, not to say we get that often but you really do set things apart. While you may not be known for something more larger scale like a project or anything else you still present a lot of effort and care into your work and showing reactions to things. To best summarise, it’s the small things that can make a big difference and seeing your work even if you do just make a GIF of your character reacting to something, that’s the extra mile and investment which shows how the community can and will be.

ThoughtsOfEverything

You’re a lot less conventional compared to some of us in the way that rather than traditionally animating and investing some effort in, you will pretty much go all out with crazy planning, VA’s and major amounts of time and effort put into an animation series. What separates you from general effort-investment is that No One and your other work has an impact to your life outside of the big screen of Stick Nodes, it isn’t an act and outside when the cameras are off so to speak you still continue to invest and live your life with desire and determination.

Final notes

This has been quite an odd round-up of individuals and admittedly I didn’t want to throw anyone who I respected and liked into the mix but rather those who I feel have brought something unique to the site, not that I mean to offend or discredit anyone else either though. So many of you are great friends and people and I’m thankful I can speak to you all regularly.

As a personal note I feel I have been less attentive to friends and the community in some ways, I have a lot to get on with in life at the moment and for things like Discord and the site, I can and do only check briefly so if I ever come around and seem cold and careless, I do care but it’s hard to remember things and prioritise my career, life etc as well as a social life. I hope next year will be better but I just wanted to make it known I understand I can be cold and bitter, I am a lemon after all.
