android adaptive icons, i had to start updating for that since its the Future™
the circle one sucks lmao
only neat thing is if you drag it around, the foreground/background are separate so it kinda looks neat
but you can change the system settings for icons from circle to the default rounded square or others

the way it works is I provide the app with 2 files, the background (the icon without the stickfigure) and a “foreground” (the stickfigure)
it then applies a mask depending on what type of app icon the user’s system uses
I don’t have a new enough Android version to have this nonsense, I had to use an emulator to even see if it was working lol

On my emulator, before the update it had the circle icon, but it was a white circle with the icon small in the center lol
It looked awful, because it wasn’t built for adaptive icons
I guess your phone allowed old style icons to retain their shape but…
