Just some basic depth based shading. It never fails for looking good and actually being versatile.

The gaps in between the wood will disappear through the anti aliasing at 1080p with what I found since they were so thin. Same thing happened with the facial details of characters when I was making the episode. In 4K that all returned. Or maybe it was like anything less that 720p since I do all my test renders and lower qualities. Pretty much the idea of it.
Plus when you stretch it vertically, the lines get thinner so more likely the lines will disappear at lower resolutions.

  • Sorry. Just bringing out some random leftovers. Not a bombastic return to the figure scene with me tossing out some random leftover stuff from animation, but I know this stuff is useful to a lot of people so…
Might work with Manto to release some of his gorgeous work from the episode. I know a lot of people could make use of that stuff too.

          interesting, good to know

btw, you export the video by PNG images in 4k? then compile it together?
          i feel like that’s a very storage-intense process
and probably takes a day to export a full animation

          • Replying to: Ralph (Developer)interesting, good to know btw, you export the video by PNG

Yeah. PNG frames all get exported at 4K. Mobile both does not have enough storage and power to do this efficiently so I just move project files onto my PC. I use bluestacks to emulate SN and then export animations there. I compile the frames using blender at a lossless quality since that is the only way I don’t get artificts using blender for that. Then make the project watchable by using a totally payed for out of date adobe media encoder and use that to compress the bitrate and make it watchable. And yeah. Everything 4K 60fps when I upload the animation now. All of this made the folder for PL Episode 4 like 100gb in size. So yeah. Storage intense but the results are worth it.

            • Replying to: Explosive BulletYeah. PNG frames all get exported at 4K. Mobile both does no

Exporting doesn’t take too long and surprisingly exporting the 44 minutes of 4K at 60fps took 1 hour and a half or something like that. PC kinda has a beast for a CPU though. Old 1660ti is having its day though. Still going good though.

  • Recently posted some behind the scenes stuff from Episode 4.
Now it’s a new year and I have a lot of goals. Hopefully I can efficiently get an episode made this year. Iron out the last problems that are holding me back and power forward with more content. Already starting work on the next episode and in the next bit I hope to show off some improvements to all sorts of stuff. Finish remakes off and move forward with more new content than remakes.
Right now I just need to set up something sustainable between animating a new episode and managing the slave labor in the team. as well as the job I plan to pick up this month that is consistent with work hours. Making a fraction of a dollar off youtube content (and that number is dropping) is simply not cutting it.

The grind of working on PL continues, this time starting with some direct help.

The angle changing is nice. Bolt seems a little weird there on the AK.
The shake is weightless and definitely does not work. Single frames of a gun moving back and forth makes the gun look completely weightless. You got parkinsons combined with the hulk unnecessary shaking that gun around. Having a little bit of it with more frames would work better.

  • So PL episode 4 has been out for a week now. If you haven’t watched it, treat yourself. Go and grab a bowl of popcorn and watch this thing. Lot’s of work put into it.

For those of you who have watched it, you might ask what is next. What is next is a bit of a surprise, but I am taking Christmas to just chill out. Then in January I am picking up a solid and consistent part time job since I need money and unfortunately, PL Episode 4 has only made me 2 and a half bucks so far. That being said, it is constant income that hopefully will pay off long term.
In other words once I get working again, I am taking a new approach to how I am making this series. It will go more like this.
I write the script, I let people check it and I go through a stage of correction and altering. While they’re doing that, I will work on various assets that will be needed to efficiently get through the next stages without any halt in progress. After that I will go into the process of preparation which will also weave into animation. Except I will not be working on animation immediately. I will send out projects as I make them so people who are helping out with animation can get to working on things faster and have tons of time to get things right before I start steamrolling through things. I will prepare projects first, then these projects will all be animated when they are prepared. And because the whole animation is prepared, I can gauge where I am at in progress more effectively. Of course, once animation is done, I will render the final bits. After that, the final stage is post production. None of these will be overlapping each other anymore. I will get set on doing one thing at a time. This won’t be as overbearing for me and likely will just be more efficient.

With this next project, I intend to iron out a few things in terms of design. I want to fix a number of things on the base to run out a final base that I will work with for the rest of the series. I also want to remake a couple of things which includes a remake of the Attachment pack pretty much. Which won’t just be remakes but some additions as well.

In the near future I plan to do less for really filler content. I won’t try so hard to get something out each week and will be more focused on putting out higher quality content rather than a chunk of little sneak peaks. I will still do a teaser on my next project once I get that rolling.

Once the sprite update releases, I will get working again as well as any animation of mine from now on will be at 4K resolution. If it is a sneak peak or a trailer, it will not be 4K though. I will also be doing all sound work on my PC since I find that way easier and less restrictive.

Going forward, I got plenty to do, but at least now I have my footing. Episode 4 broke me into bringing in other peoples help so everything should be more efficient from start to finish on the next project. To put into perspective. I had the final 10 minutes of this episode done within a month.
That being said it was with a schedule of working day an night on the project. The final part of episode 4 was also insanely intense in the action and visuals and everything and I was burnt out. Now that I am on a fresh start moving forward, I am positive I can get a lot more done in shorter amounts of time.
Lastly. Thank you for all the comments, them be critical, positive or just basic conversation on what is going on in the series where people are pointing out the countless details, making jokes and memes, discussing the story, talking about the characters. As much as I hope for this series to make me money, it takes the support from all of you people to push me to seeing the worth in it. It’s not the money I hope to make off of the passion project that pushes me to do better, it is seeing people be entertained and inspired to do more with this application.
Past year has been really rough for me on a motivation standpoint with people out there insulting me, claiming my content doesn’t improve at all and hasn’t improved, putting their political fanaticism ahead of the value of friendship, actively twisting and distorting decisions I make into horrible things that I have done in what I can only assume is attempts to cancel and drive me through the mud because I ended up making someone mad over something petty. This month is a high point for me and each and every comment on my work only amplifies that and makes me excited to do more. Thank you once again for supporting me and continuing to support me.
Now, Merry Christmas. Enjoy the best of what this season has to offer cause I have and it has been a real boost to my mood. I hope to soon have some new stuff to share with you and I will see if I got some assets to post on the site soon. Been a while since I have posted something.
