This is a good start. I could put a character like this to good use.

Interesting design. I feel he could use a vest, some pouches and stuff like that.

Edgy? None of his parents died at a young age, a much more realistic background with why he wanted to fight overseas and at home, dealt with some trauma in his military service which resulted in the discharge of him so he could recover but still wanted to defend his home so he did it through the police. I built this story completely to avoid the edge and genericness found in most back stories.

Finally. Wrote a story for my character in the series. Nothing too complex and tried my best to steer clear of clichés.
Explosive Bullet – Real Name: Ty Barrett
EB was born into a relaxed life. By the age of 18 he had made the decision that he wanted to play his part in defending and fighting for his country. He joined the CAF and after a tour in Afghanistan he had enlisted in the JTF2. He spent 4 years fighting with the JTF2 in conflicts within Venuzuala and in Syria. Within those 4 years he had made many friends. By the 4th year of his service he had lost 6 friends to ambushes. He had also watched one friend of his get executed by an enemy insurgent in Syria. By this point he had developed a cold hearted mentality towards enemies he fought after being discharaged for multiple cases of PTSD. After finding that not only were these threats in foreign countries, but they had made their way into Canada, his home country. He enlisted into the Police to fight within his own country and keep it safe. He always loved the equipment the military offered and tended to abuse it. He mainly abuses military equipment all because of his experience of losing friends back in Syria and Venuzuala and prefers to keep the risks as low as possible. This created tension between him and command due to costs and risk of civilian casualty in CQC operations but he remains leader of his own squad due to his abilities he carried from the special forces. He tries to make the best of his time with his squad by cracking jokes and helping his squad out when possible.
