Well hello you fucks, been a long time since I did a post that wasn’t a site log. Now I’ve been inconsistent about my schedule and what not especially with all this moving from place to place and seeing as how I’m about to enter an existential crisis in a month or so, I decided to be a bit more productive again so time for a little history lesson
Everyone knows Godzilla 1998 was dogshit as a godzilla film, it did a compete disservice to everything he stood for even if his films weren’t exactly high art most of the time, you’ve heard the lot many times but what fewer may have known was it could’ve been peak af. Back in 1994, it was announced an american godzilla film had been greenlit, 11 years after an attempt at one by Steve Miner had fallen through, primarily due to godzilla’s reputation as a ‘kids franchise’ by that point. Long story short, a dedicated team was involved, a monster called the Gryphon would’ve fought godzilla, and TriStar fucked everything up because apparently that kind of passion wasn’t trustworthy of a multi-million dollar budget
This was the original TriStar Godzilla, Stan Winston Godzilla, or just StanGoji. The maquette model and the special effects were made and supposed to be done respectively by Stan Winston Studios
