Black Holes are generally rare and Supernovas only occur in red giants and other supermassive stars, none of which are close enough to ust to obliterate our planet-

quasars are even rarer than black holes, the nearest active one we know is 1.7 billion light-years away from earth
also from what I can understand, quasars ARE black holes, they are the accretion disk orbiting one, releasing enormous amounts of energy.
