Alright, I just saw the Minecraft movie so in typical internet user fashion I’m going to give my opinion that nobody asked for.

I’ll say this, Minecraft is a pretty bland game at face value and unless you make it your own and expand what it can be, it will remain that way, hence the story we got where it was an interpretation to Minecraft. Which let me just say, was actually very charming and entertaining.

The best way I can think to describe it, is that it’s like watching a Lego movie ( Lego Batman, The Lego Movie ) except it’s not Lego. It’s charming, it’s funny, it’s got some cool stuff involved but by no means was it actually a solid story, it works, it was fun to watch but maybe wasn’t what some more dedicated people were expecting.

There were moments, like the Enderman one in the library where thematically they were going for something interesting and actually played into some lore ideas and the vibe the end and endermen give off etc.

Bottom line, it was entertaining and about what you might expect given you don’t put the bar too high, I’m glad I watched it but I doubt I’d watch it again anytime soon.
