If I’m one of the people you’re talking about here, I don’t believe you know me well enough to assume that I follow the same ideas and beliefs as Gigan. Yes, I am fully her friend. Yes, we do agree at times. But no, I’m not a mindset-slave to her, nor do I take action in her example. And we especially don’t agree all of the time.

Edit: I really should add just to make sure this is REALLY clear, even to this day I still find myself being critical of Gigan’s actions, some facets of her mindset, and her approach to things. There is way in which she does thing that I do believe contributed to the fall of this place, mostly because it seems infectious enough for people to follow after, for whatever reason. None of this makes her any less of a friend to me, but SERIOUSLY don’t assume that I think in any way like her, because I’m not her.

If what we did is truly a symptom of this site and its culture’s wider problems, then I really do wonder what the hell the actual big problems look like, because I personally think it’s a pretty weak signifier in comparison to literally everything else that this place has been through. As far as I can tell, besides one person who we apologised to and cleared up misunderstandings with, no one else has taken this so strongly.

But, I’m not just here to defend my position, because I do agree with where you’re coming from, at least partly. This place, and its culture, has its fair share of problems, and I won’t deny that I’ve contributed to those problems a few times, which I have learnt (and am learning) from and rectified. I have never enjoyed the fact that there’s this general animosity to new users who are obviously kids, even if they get a little bit annoying. I don’t see why they can’t be ignored, or what joy there is to get from putting them down.

And then you have some of your mainstay users who present a problem in their own right. It gets to their head a little bit and they just come off as totally disrespectful. There’s very little standard of mutual, or even self-respect UNLESS you know that person and you think that they’re your friend. Otherwise you just totally walk all over them.
Honestly, it’s really no wonder that we keep seeing the same old faces again and again, and some of the more prominent users decide to stay in their own little corners on Discord or anywhere else.

Why would you want to be here if everyone’s attitude stinks and they just want to push you out? This place wasn’t constructed for a purpose like that, but it’s only become more like that as time has gone on.

But, that’s about as far as my sympathies and concerns go. Anything else I’m indifferent to, and if I’m in disagreement, I’ll tell you so.
