I will explain the whole current lore of ultrakill to you now :]

LOCATION: APPROACHING HELL
OBJECTIVE: FIND A WEAPON
MANKIND IS DEAD

HELL IS FULL

We’ll unpack what that means in a minute, but the game is…
actual gameplay
Ultrakill is a “boomer shooter” as it’s fans affectionately call it, you fight through hell as a little blue robot (V1), progressing through various levels getting a letter grade depending on how you did in each one. There are 23 weapons in ultrakill, with 9 of those being “Alternate” versions, which are well, alternate versions of each weapon. Mainly there is the “Marksman” though, it shoots a coin into the air with its alt fire, then you can shoot it… with any hitscan weapon.

So, humanity has been fighting this “Final war” starting as trench warfare, but advancing to machine warfare as blood-fueled machines first rose with the gutter man. These were dropped onto enemy entrenchments and they massacred everyone. New inventions continued to spring up to counter the last. Until finally, towering machines, “Earthmovers” began to destroy cities with massive beams of energy. All this warefare had blotted out the sun, which caused the blood and solar powered earthmovers to die out. Humanity lived on the backs of these colossal corpses for a looooong time, an, if I remember right, 200 year peace. Sometime after this peace, humanity tried to explore hell, leading to the mass extinction of man. In hell, the floodgates were open, hell was packed to the brim, possibly causing literal GOD to dissapear, looking at what he’d done. A time of panic, yet a time of revolution occurred after this, namely, the renaissance of Lust, and the insurrection of Greed. These were led by King Minos, Former Judge of Hell, and King Sisyphus respectfully. Both were killed by Gabriel the archangel. The Machines, much later, entered into Hell, specifically the player, and their nemesis for most of the game, V2. The V models were small machines built to destroy earthmovers by being nearly unhittable by them.
