@ralph i have a serious question
why does it matter?
seriously, nothing this man can do for twitter will help it in the long run. it either gets worse or only slightly better as a social media platform and best case scenario i stop getting crypto ads on my timeline

the tl;dr (sike)
elon musk is a walking talking brand, like trump
things he says and does are always, always for branding and money
why does this matter?
he wants to make money, and that’s it
even with his electric car nonsense and saving the planet horeshit – it’s for money
plus he *needs* to turn a profit with twitter as he has backers in this deal as well that want a return on their investment
he is not going to turn twitter into a bastion of libertarian-style free speech
(this is what the pink haired freaks are screeching about, worried all the hidden nazis are gonna swarm twitter and start goose-stepping down the streets)
instead, he will mildly reform it
that means bringing back all the people who were wrongfully banned for whatever stupid reason, and all their audience
that means not banning someone talking about how the 2022 election was rigged
that means not banning someone for discussing differing studies and opinions on covid bullshit
that means not banning someone for saying white people are the devil
…actually you can already say that and not be banned
……but now you’ll be able to replace “white people” with “jews” and not be banned too!
this means unbanning trump and kanye and alex jones etc etc and everyone else who has been de-personed by The Powers That Be
this is what is going to happen to twitter
it returns twitter to what it used to be in the early 2010s and what all big tech *used* to be, liberty-leaning and at least somewhat contrarian to establishment propaganda – not a megaphone for it as twitter/facebook/reddit are now
this will make twitter into something unique that other big tech sites are not, which may make it more appealing to a userbase in the long run – or not – we will see
the pedophiles get to stay banned though right?
they were never banned
a couple of the ones that I reported were
while @dubsyne gotem with that remark, yes
elon has not even touched the ToS yet, but he has mentioned he would like to get rid of permabans, a great idea
however, he has alluded to the fact this would not include actual *illegal* activity, where this would fall under
this is the best way to handle actual “free speech”, unless it’s illegal, it should not be censored or banned
illegal = illicit porn, credible threats, etc
botting would count as a bannable offense as that is 1) not even humans and 2) is essentially the limiting of others’ free speech (equivalent of blasting white noise through a megaphone as someone is trying to talk)
don’t mind if i use this for my essay-
